NARS Chihuahua Lip Gloss Review

I’ve always been quite obsessed with lipstick but I went into frenzy over it last year. I mean, you couldn’t catch me sporting a gloss. It was all lipstick, all the time! While digging through my stash I realized just how many glosses I’ve neglected and decided to bring them back out. Spring is the perfect gloss season! So why not sport some glossy lips?

Since NARS has recently reformulated their gloss line so I thought I’d start off by loving on my old NARS glosses. My gloss is still sporting the old packaging, of course. It features a plastic clear tube and rubbery matte black top. The new design (which you’ll see in stores soon) looks more like the Larger Than Life glosses and sports the NARS logo on the cap. I can’t lie. I’m pretty tempted to replace my old glosses with the newer ones. The design is pretty neat!

Chihuahua is a warm neutral pinky peach shade with a plastic-y scent and taste. I’m so glad NARS has decided to reformulate the gloss line because I’ve read that the plastic scent and taste is no more! Thank goodness! It has a semi-sheer glossy finish that’s sitll buildable enough to wear alone. I do like it better over a lip pencil or lipstick though because it takes a few swipes to get the full color on my pigmented lips. Chihuahua has a slightly thick and sticky texture, similar to MAC lipglass. I find it to be just a smidgen thinner. I don’t mind the thicker texture because it feels good on the lips and lasts pretty nicely. I find Chihuahua to be lightly moisturizing and wears for around 3 hours before fading. It’s a rather lovely gloss that’s easy to wear and makes a great everyday lippie. You can find Chihuahua at Sephora or your local NARS counter for $25. If you’re interested in snagging Chihuahua in the new packaging you’ll have to wait until May 1st but it’ll be $26 instead. The choice is yours!
