The Pre-Poo Method

Has your hair ever felt dry after using shampoo? That’s because some shampoos contain harsh detergents that can strip the hair of natural oils. There’s a lot of different things you can do to keep your hair soft and healthy after shampoo but my favorite is the pre-poo method.

What is the pre-poo method?

The pre-poo method is really simple. You just pick an oil of your choice to apply before you shampoo your hair. Get why it’s called pre-poo? 🙂

How do you pre-poo?

It’s easy! First, you part your hair into 4 sections. Next, apply a generous amount of oil starting at the ends and work your way up to your roots. Once you’ve got everything covered let it sit for at least 15 minutes and then wash your hair. Easy!

Are there any other benefits of pre-pooing?

Yes! Applying oil to your hair regularly helps to condition and lock in moisture plus promote growth and add shine. Oils are nature’s gift to us!

What’s the best oil to use?

It really depends on your hair type and needs. Oils have many different vitamins, nutrients and benefits so it can take some trial and error to find the best one for your hair. If you have fine or oily strands you’ll want to try lighter oils like jojoba and coconut. Ladies with thick or dry hair should try thicker oils like olive and castor. My hair is really thick and dry so I like to use a mix of different oils sometimes. My current faves are Jamaican Black Castor Oil and Hollywood Beauty Coconut Oil.
