Milani Enchanted Lapis Constellation Gel Eye Liner Review
Black eyeliner is so yesterday! Sure it’s a great color for defining the eyes but sometimes you have to spice things up. Throw a little color in that smokey eye, girl! I’ve always had a thing for blue eyeliners but the new Milani Enchanted Lapis Constellation Gel Eye Liner is pretty much all I reach for these days. It takes my eyes to a whole new galaxy!
Enchanted Lapis is a deep cool navy blue with a stunning galaxy glitter overspray design. Yes ladies. That beautiful design sadly fades away with each use. The glitter does seem to get mixed in with the rest of the liner a bit though so you’re left with a light shimmery sheen. I have to admit that Enchanted Lapis would be much prettier if the overspray stuck around for a little longer. It just seems to add a lot of depth while giving the eyes a celestial feel.
Even without the gorgeous overspray I still find myself completely obsessed with Enchanted Lapis. It isn’t perfect but it just looks so beautiful and really makes my brown eyes pop! Enchanted Lapis has a soft, creamy texture that glides across the lids smoothly with moderate pigmentation. In a single swipe, Enchanted Lapis applies semi-opaque and slightly streaky but it’s buildable so you can achieve a smooth, even finish as you apply more.
The biggest drawback of the Constellation Gel Eye Liner formula is that it feels more like a cream eyeshadow than a gel eyeliner. It’s very creamy so it’s easy to smudge for a sultry smokey eye effect but it never fully sets. Enchanted Lapis remained soft and creamy on my eyes throughout the day so it had no trouble migrating onto my top lid. Surprisingly, it still managed to last for around 8-10 hours before fading away significantly. Milani doesn’t list if this is waterline safe but because of the glitter I’d advise against it. I did test Enchanted Lapis on my bottom lid though. Sadly, it didn’t hold up as well. It only lasted for around 4 hours before beginning to disappear. While Enchanted Lapis makes for a great cat eye or smokey eye it certainly isn’t for everyone. It managed to hold up pretty decently with my watery eyes but I don’t think it’ll fare too well with oily lids. It’s always worth a try though!
