NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray Review
Like most people, my face has always had a bit of shine to it. Especially my forehead. That thing shines like nobody’s business! The rest of my face is usually pretty shine free but this summer left me looking like a bit of a greaseball. If it wasn’t for the NYX Pore Filler and the amazing Matte Finish Setting Spray I would have went into hiding weeks ago!
I’ve been using MAC Fix+ for ages now and, while I love it, it’s not exactly a setting spray. Don’t get me wrong. It helps make my makeup look amazing but it doesn’t set it or prolong the wear. Here’s where the NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray comes in. It’s like Fix+ on steroids!
It’s a little sticky at first and has a light chemical scent but it absorbs quickly and doesn’t linger. The Matte Finish Setting Spray really smooths everything out and helps your makeup to look more natural (no cake face here!) while controlling shine and locking in your look. Of course, it won’t help your makeup last through a steamy shower or anything. It’ll definitely help get you through the day though!
I started off using it after applying my makeup and had pretty good results. It didn’t completely eliminate the need for a setting powder but it made my Revlon Nearly Naked foundation look a little less dewy. It wasn’t until I tried it under my makeup that I fell in love. Huge difference! Spritzing a little of the Matte Finish Setting Spray before applying my makeup made my skin look matte without looking flat. It really toned down the dewiness of my foundation and eliminated the need for a setting powder. The NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray works incredibly well with my combination (mostly dry) skin but it may need a good primer to be effective on oily skin. Either way, I recommend giving the NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray a try the next time you make a run to CVS!
I just purchased this a month ago I’m loving it too. But I never thought to use it under my makeup…I’ll try it out!
Omg it worked wonders for me under my makeup! Now I spray it like a million times when I’m doing my makeup lol
Hey Fancie, thanks for the heads-up! I’ve never really tried any makeup setting sprays (I know!), but this sounds pretty good!
Lol really? You’ll have to try one soon. They’re awesome!
