Barbie Ultimate Lipstick Set Review

If all makeup companies could make a Barbie collection my life would be so much easier! Sure, I’d probably go broke collecting it all but I’d be such a glamorous, happy homeless woman. I just love me some Barbie! You should have seen my face when I first saw the Barbie Loves Forever 21 collection. I temporarily lost it. Everything is so freaking cute!

The shirts and sweaters were totally up my alley but it was the Ultimate Lipstick Set that captured my heart! Who doesn’t want to walk around with a purse full of Barbie lipsticks? The set includes 3 iconic Barbie lipstick shades in a creme finish for just $6. All of the lipsticks feature a shiny pink Barbie logo on the cap and a light sweet scent.

Pink Rose may look intimidating in the tube but fear not! It’s more of a lip balm than a lipstick. There’s no color at all. Just lots of sheen and a subtle hint of shimmer that’s quite pretty! The texture is very lightweight and a little slippery but it manages to stay in place for around 4 hours. The formula is also lightly hydrating and leaves my lips feeling soft once it’s worn off. While it looks pretty on its own I think it’ll look even better paired with other lipsticks! Do be careful when applying Pink Rose though! It’s much softer than the other shades so it can break if you’re a little too hard on it.

Fuchsia is quite the beauty but you’ll need a little patience with this one! It’s a cool magenta with a slight sheen and lightweight, slippery texture. It applied smoothly and evenly with great pigmentation but the formula was a little hard to work with. Fuchsia didn’t settle into my lip lines but it seemed to emphasize dry patches and create lines when I pressed my lips together. It’s not extremely troublesome or super noticeable though so I can’t complain too much. Just be sure to exfoliate and use a lip primer or liner underneath. Then it’ll be smooth sailing! Fuchsia is quite comfortable to wear and lasts for around 3 hours before fading into a stain.

Red Rouge definitely isn’t for the faint of heart! It’s an incredibly bright blue toned red with a glossy sheen and lightweight, slippery texture. It applied smoothly and evenly with great pigmentation and seemed to be pretty dry lip friendly. Red Rouge was very comfortable to wear and didn’t settle into lip lines or emphasize dry patches. You’ll still need a lip liner or primer with this shade though. The formula moves around quite a bit. I accidentally dozed off wearing it and I woke up looking like I drank a pitcher of red Kool-Aid. It was pretty funny but would have been really embarrassing if I was out in public. You definitely want to avoid that! Otherwise, Red Rouge is pretty darn nice! It lasts for around 5 hours before fading into a stain that lasts all day.

Is the Barbie Ultimate Lipstick Set a little cheesy? Maybe. But I can’t deny that the value is definitely there! Whether you’re 5 or 25, I think you’d thoroughly enjoy this cute lipstick set. The variety and quality are quite impressive for a $6 Forever 21 set. It’s currently sold out online but if you happen to catch a set in stores, grab one! I think you’ll love it!
