MAC La Vie en Rouge Lipstick Review

Vibrant, show stopping corals are usually reserved for spring and summer but leave it to MAC to spice things up a bit! Who said bright corals can’t be fall appropriate, anyways? It’s actually quite refreshing to see a bright lipstick getting some fall love for once!

La Vie en Rouge looks like a color MAC has done to death but it’s actually quite unique! It’s an incredibly bright (I’m talking almost neon) orange-y coral with a slight pink undertone and matte finish. Upon first glance, it looked like a dead ringer for Toying Around from the Playland Collection but it’s much darker and more orange. It seems like someone at MAC is working to give us something a little different!

The formula is quite enjoyable too! La Vie en Rouge has a lightweight creamy texture that glides across the lips without tugging or pulling. It applies evenly and lasts for around 4-6 hours before fading into a stain. I usually have a bit of trouble with bright corals but La Vie en Rouge is surprisingly easy to work with! It feels good on the lips and it doesn’t emphasize dry patches or settle into my lip lines too badly. Toying Around and Lady Danger seem to settle into every nook and cranny upon application but La Vie en Rouge is much more forgiving. I get at least an hour or two of wear before I notice any settling and even then it doesn’t look bad. It’s rather easy to control too! A light layer of lip balm, primer or a lip liner underneath works wonders.

La Vie en Rouge didn’t feel drying at all during wear but the formula is a tad drier than Fashion Revival. Don’t worry! It’s still plenty creamy and comfortable to wear but it definitely looks and feels more like a matte. It doesn’t have a slight sheen like Fashion Revival so classic matte lovers shall be pleased! If you haven’t had a chance to get your hands on The Matte Lip Collection yet then I highly recommend heading over to Nordstrom to order a few. MAC’s new matte formula is quite a hit and the colors are to die for! Especially La Vie en Rouge and Fashion Revival!

One Thought to “MAC La Vie en Rouge Lipstick Review”

  1. Oh my mother hated this lipstick on me. I wanted it because it was so neon against a tan I just gotten from a recent trip but she made such a fuss. I like the color because the brightness was up there with Candy Yum Yum. I punked out and bought Living Legends and Styled in Sepia.
