NYX Temptress Simply Vamp Lip Cream Review
Meet my new favorite vampy lip! If you follow me on Instagram then you know I’ve been getting pretty cozy with a particular vampy purple. Well, her name is Temptress and she’s one of the new NYX Simply Vamp Lip Creams.
When the NYX Simply Lip Cream lines were first released I didn’t pay them much attention. I know chubby pencils are all the rage right now but I was kinda over them. That is, until Temptress came along. It’s like a vampy lip liner and lipstick in one!
Temptress is a deep, blackened grape with a cool undertone, satin finish and faint candy scent. It applies smoothly with intense pigmentation but it goes on a bit patchy. On my top lip, Temptress looks just fine but the color doesn’t stick to the center of my bottom lip that well. Yeah, it’s a little annoying but not a deal breaker for me. I’ve tried several higher end vampy lipsticks that have all applied the same. So I have to cut NYX some slack for that.
While the formula is slightly clingy, it’s very creamy and lightweight so it looks and wears rather well. Temptress didn’t settle into my lip lines or emphasize any dryness but I did experience some bleeding and feathering. For the best results, I recommend using a lip liner to lock the color in place. Temptress isn’t exactly moisturizing but it didn’t dry out my lips at all. Even after 6-7 hours of solid wear my lips weren’t begging for lip balm. So this is definitely a lipstick you’ll want in your purse for long days out! You can apply Temptress in the morning and still have vampy purple stained lips the next morning. I love it!
The first time I wore Temptress I thought, “This would fit right in with my MAC Punk Couture lipsticks.” And it does! It’s not quite a dupe for Instigator (though very close!) or Punk Couture but it would have made a great addition to the collection. Both the color and quality of Temptress is on par with its MAC doppelgangers. I highly recommend it!

Hey Fancie, whoaaa this one means business! I don’t think I can pull it off at all, but it looks really cool on you!
Lol! Temptress is definitely a bolder look but I love it! I think a vampy purple would actually look pretty on you though. I actually love to see darker shades like this on lighter complexions. The contrast makes it look even better!
Hello Francie! I just started blogging and came across your blog. I was wondering if you have any tips on how to photograph products? Yours seem to always look so professional!! Love this review, and your blog!

Thank you! I’ve come a long way though lol. I recommend shooting as much as you can in during the day. The more natural light you can capture, the better. To enhance your lighting, try switching to brighter daylight bulbs. Also, don’t be afraid to play with your camera settings or editing apps!
Thank you for the tips! I just realized I made a type-o and said Francie! I was on my phone when I posted this, my apologies!!!!
No problem! Lol it’s okay. Happens all the time 🙂
NYX has been bringing the vampy shades.
I couldn’t be happier! It’s nice to have some more affordable options
