Wet n Wild Sunset Siren MegaLast Matte Lipstick Review

If I could have one Christmas wish from Wet n Wild it would be to make the limited edition matte lipsticks permanent. I love these things so much! I’d love to have a second set for backups but they’re so darn hard to find. However, the quality is so good, I think everyone should own them!

Sunset Siren is the last limited edition shade from the Wet n Wild Fall 2014 Matte Collection. It’s a warm, vibrant tomato red with strong orange undertones that seems to look different on everyone. On lighter complexions, Sunset Siren appears more of a true red but it pulls very orange on me. I don’t know what it is about my lips that seems to pull all of the orange out of these kind of colors. It’s kinda weird! Once I swiped it on, I thought it’d be similar to MAC Lady Danger or Mangrove lipsticks but it’s actually much more red and not as neon.

I’ve really enjoyed the Wet n Wild MegaLast Matte Lipsticks so far and Sunset Siren doesn’t disappoint either! It has a lightweight creamy texture that glides smoothly across the lips with intense pigmentation and full coverage. Sunset Siren applies mostly evenly but it can get a little patchy and create lines if you press your lips together too much. Despite the matte claim, Sunset Siren is very creamy and has a very noticeable sheen upon application. It almost looks and feels like a satin for the first hour or so. I don’t mind it much but I can see it bothering true matte fans.

Typically, these kind of shades are a pain in the butt when it comes to settling but Sunset Siren performed surprisingly well. I didn’t notice any settling until it began to wear away after 4-6 hours. I also didn’t experience any bleeding or feathering. Sunset Siren was actually quite comfortable and easy to wear. My only complaint is that it doesn’t last quite as long as “true mattes”. I get at least 5-6 solid hours of wear from similar matte shades but Sunset Siren falls a little short. It’s still no slouch though! If you’re lucky enough to find these lipsticks in your area then you totally need to grab Sunset Siren!
