NYX Sugar Cookie Butter Gloss Review

You know what’s really fun? Mixing lippies! It’s just something about creating a new lip color that’s all my own that gets me excited. One of my favorite ways to spice things up is by adding a little gloss into the mix.

Like the NYX Sugar Cookie Butter Gloss. I’ve been pairing this beauty with everything from my NARS Michiyo Audacious Lipstick to my Milani Violet Volt Color Statement Lipstick. It layers so well with a variety of formulas.

Sugar Cookie is a bright fuchsia with a hint of purple and a cool undertone. The color isn’t nearly as intense as it looks in the tube which might be disappointing if you’re looking for something more opaque. However, if you’re into a buildable, soft wash of color that allows your natural lip color to shine through then you’ll love it. I usually prefer my glosses a little more opaque but the formula is so delicious that I don’t mind swiping on a few extra layers.

First you’re greeted with the scent of sweet sugar cookies which smells heavenly. Then as you apply the smooth, creamy gloss you’re hit with it’s moisturizing goodness. The formula is slightly thick and little tacky but it feels great on the lips and lasts a pretty long time for a sheerer gloss. Sugar Cookie lasts for around 3 hours before fading into a light stain. I was pleasantly surprised to see it last through a cheeseburger and a glass of wine. The formula is pretty impressive! It kind of reminds me of MAC’s Cremesheen Glass formula but it’s a little more pigmented and lasts a bit longer. Plus it’s a fraction of the cost at just $5! If you’re a gloss lover I think you’ll be a big fan of Sugar Cookie and the rest of the Butter Gloss gang. Be sure to check them out the next time you hit CVS or Ulta!
