Rimmel Celestial Show Off Lip Lacquer Review

I know I just showed you those brand new Matte Lip Velvets but I just had to dust off my old Show Off Lip Lacquers for a second! Thanks to being a beauty blogger (convenient excuse ;)) I have a habit of overhauling and forgetting about stuff. I literally haven’t seen my original Show Off Lip Lacquers in months but they popped back into my mind when I spotted those new beauties.

So I figured, “Why not get to know the old formula before trying the new one?” My first pick of the litter was Celestial, a warm rosy pink. Celestial is one of those pinks that’ll work great for more natural looks or an everyday lip. It looks a little more vibrant in person but it’s a very wearable pink that a variety of complexions can pull off.

When I first swatched the Show Off Lip Lacquers I regarded them as a gloss but the formula is actually more of a liquid lipstick. Rimmel claims it’s neither a gloss or a lipstick but bigger than both. Honestly, the description is kinda spot on!

Celestial applies smoothly with full coverage in single swipe (like a liquid lipstick) but it has a lightweight, slightly tacky texture and soft sheen (like a gloss). The color applies mostly even in a single coat and it wears quite well on my dry lips. Celestial is lightly moisturizing and it doesn’t settle into my lip lines or emphasize flakes much. I didn’t experience a lot of bleeding and feathering either. Celestial wears quite nicely for around 3-4 hours before fading into a light rosy pink stain. My only complaint is the smell is a little off putting. It’s almost like hand lotion (like Red Alert). Thankfully, the scent is faint and doesn’t linger but it’s a little off putting at first. As long as you don’t have a sensitive nose I think the Rimmel Celestial Show Off Lip Lacquer is a great buy. It’s like an affordable liquid lipstick for dry lips, which I totally appreciate!
