MAC Summer Opal Beauty Powder Swatches & First Impressions
Happy release day! Today is the big day of the MAC Cinderella and Bao Bao Wan store release and I hope you’re able to find a location near you and get everything your heart desires. There’s quite a few gems in both collections but I was the most taken aback by the compact powders. Boy are they beautiful!
I’m still reeling a little from the excitement of the Cinderella Coupe D’Chic powder so when the Summer Opal Beauty Powder from the Bao Bao Wan Collection was delivered to my doorstep it felt like Christmas. Two beautiful shimmering limited edition compacts in two days? Yaaaaaas!
The Bao Bao Wan isn’t as dainty as the Cinderella collection but it’s just as beautiful and certainly just as popular. This collection crept online and sold out before you could blink an eye! It was a little confusing at first considering there wasn’t a lot of promo but then again this collection is quite beautiful. It features a velvety matte deep bronze packaging with rose gold trimmings that’s spunky but still feels elegant and luxe.
The lipsticks seemed dupable so I exercised a little self restraint and only ordered the Summer Opal Beauty Powder. It’s described by MAC as light bronze with golden shimmer but it’s more of a pale peach with fine golden shimmer. The first time I swatched Summer Opal I thought the base was going to be a problem because it looked pretty pale but it looks just fine when applied. I think it works well for WOC!
Summer Opal seems to have a soft, finely milled texture with sheer buildable coverage. It’s not nearly as intense as Coupe D’Chic. Summer Opal is more of an everyday highlight. When applied and buffed in with my MAC 188 Duo Fibre Brush it gave a soft, beautiful sort of lit from within kind of glow. However, you can easily build it to be more pronounced without crossing over into disco ball territory.
I just received it last night so I haven’t been playing around with it for too long (i.e. woke up and started playing with it on bare skin) but so far I like it! I think it’s a great pick for a variety of complexions. Especially us WOC! If your lipstick collection isn’t as extensive as mine I really recommend checking out the lipsticks too. They’re quite beautiful too!
Are you heading to the stores for the Bao Bao Wan Collection today?
The packaging looks so elegant and modern!
I really like it! It has a subtle iridescent blue shift when the light hits it that’s so beautiful!
