Maybelline Carnation Cabernet & Tangy Tulip Rebel Bloom Lipstick Review
Maybelline sure is working overtime to make sure we’re prepared for spring! First, they gave us a handful (or two) of new, permanent Rebel Bloom lipsticks and now we’re getting a few more limited edition shades too. I don’t know about you but all of these spring collections have me on the edge of my seat. Hurry up already spring so I can be all bright and pastel!
There’s a total of 4 new limited edition shades in the new spring Rebel Bloom collection but I only picked up two, Tangy Tulip and Carnation Cabernet. Tangy Tulip is a bright warm mandarin orange with slight red undertones. Carnation Cabernet is a vibrant magenta with cool undertones.
I spotted them at my local Walgreens but they’re also available at CVS too along with a handful of other new and limited edition goodies.
The Rebel Bloom lipsticks are still relatively new to the scene but I’ve been enjoying them quite a bit and highly recommend trying one. I’m usually not a fan of sheer lipsticks since I have pigmented lips but the Rebel Bloom formula actually impressed me!
Both Tangy Tulip and Carnation Cabernet are creamy, lightweight and easy to apply with semi-sheer coverage and a soft, juicy sheen. They applied smoothly and evenly with an emollient texture that melts into the lips for a smooth, flawless finish. Neither shade settled into my lip lines and Carnation Cabernet didn’t emphasize flakes at all while Tangy Tulip was slightly less forgiving. I experienced some light bleeding with both shades but a light application and lip liner helps lock the color in place pretty well.
Tangy Tulip and Carnation Cabernet wore very comfortably for around 4-5 hours before fading into a stain. Both shades left my lips feeling soft and seemed to fade well (no cracks or flakes). If you happen to come across the new Maybelline spring display I totally recommend checking out Tangy Tulip and Carnation Cabernet!
