Milani Romantic Rose Blush Review

Milani Romantic Rose Rose Blush

Since today is all about pink I figured I’d share with you another pink beauty! This time we’re swinging it to the cheeks with the ever so beautiful Milani Romantic Rose Blush. Just look at it. Isn’t it stunning?

When the Milani Rose Blushes were first launched they were limited edition and tough to find so, sadly, I was never able to get my hands on one. Until one awesome day that Milani revealed on Instagram that they’re bringing them back and they’re going to be * drumroll * permanent. Yasssssss!

I’ve read a lot of mixed reviews so I was a little hesitant to try the Rose Blushes at first. Then I spotted the display at CVS and just couldn’t keep my hands to myself. That rose design is seriously stunning!

The first shade I was immediately drawn to was Romantic Rose. It’s a warm dusty rose-pink with a slight brown undertone and matte finish. In the pan, Romantic Rose comes off a little powdery and when swatched it seems extremely chalky. I have to admit–I was starting to get a little disappointed because Romantic Rose was turning out to be sheer and difficult to work with.

However, it just turns out that Romantic Rose (and probably the rest of the gang) just isn’t the kind of blush you can swatch. I mean, you can, but it’s not going to give you the same effect as it would on the cheeks. When I applied Romantic Rose it was a totally different story. I had no problem picking up pigment with a good fluffy blush brush or getting the color to show up on my skin. The color is definitely more on the subtle side so it’s hard to really capture in photos without clown cheeks. However, Romantic Rose provides a soft, rosy flush to my complexion that noticeably brightens the face in person.

Although Romantic Rose has a slightly dry, powdery texture it seemed to adhere to the skin and blend well–lasting for 6-7 hours before fading. I can imagine the Rose Blush formula won’t work for everyone but it plays quite nicely with my complexion and dry cheeks. I’ve actually been wearing Romantic Rose everyday for months. It’s just so beautiful! It’s the perfect everyday blush for brown skin as it adds just enough color without looking over done or too “made up”. If you don’t mind a little powder here and there I totally recommend checking out Romantic Rose!

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve stared at these at the drugstore, loving the rose design (kind of reminds me of the Chanel blush but much cheaper), trying to figure out which of the 3 to get, and afraid I might get all 3 if I couldn’t decide ! But I think your swatch might tip the scale towards Romantic Rose. It looks perfect on you, adding a subtle contour and warmth, so your eyes and lips can take center stage. Great choice

  2. Fancie – I have this blush and I love it!!! It’s my go to blush right now! Romantic Rose goes with every eye look that I do! Good for you that you made the same choice I did, and wear it so well. You are such a pretty girl, you could have worn any of them, no problem!!! 🙂 It too reminded me of a high-end blush and it wears so well, and it is so soft to the touch. Love, love, love it. TTYL.
