Ahh, the last day of April. Can’t say I’ll miss this month too much. It was pretty busy. And still kinda cold. But a lot of good still managed to come out of April. I started a promising new job and bought a lot of new makeup. So I guess things weren’t so bad after all. Especially considering I came across a handful of new products that are unbelievably good. Take a look!

Ole Henriksen Black Currant Perfecting Complexion Oil was a lucky find at T.J.Maxx one day–an extremely lucky find! Not just because it was insanely cheap (under $15) but also because it’s hydrating and makes my skin positively radiant. Just a tiny amount mixed into my moisturizer gives this dewy all over glow that doesn’t look or feel greasy.

MAC Alpha Girl Beauty Powder turned out to be a surprisingly stunning highlight for me. I’ve been using it a ton lately because it’s so easy to blend and the golden glow really sets off any look. I’m glad I didn’t trust my instinct with this one! I just knew it was going to be a skip lol. Crazy how things work!

Dior Nude Air Serum was an impulse buy, honestly, but after trying it at the counter I felt like I needed it. This foundation is so incredibly lightweight, silky smooth and blendable. It takes like 0 effort to apply it and the finish is so natural. This stuff is absolutely amazing!

NYX Honey Dew Me Up Primer Serum will probably make it on my faves list like every month. I’m obsessed with glowing like a fairy (or housewife) and this primer/serum gives that all over lit from within radiance that looks great alone or under makeup.

NYX Eyebrow Shaper is a rather new product but I’ve been using it everyday since I picked it up. This stuff makes a pretty great eyebrow primer! It locks my unruly brows in place and eliminates the need to use an eyebrow gel to set my brows. My mind was completely blown the first time I used it. I don’t know how I’ve lived without it!

Kat Von D L.U.V. Everlasting Liquid Lipstick is like best thing since sliced bread right now. I love this lipstick! It goes on smooth and creamy then sets to the sexiest matte finish that lasts literally all day. I could never understand the hype with these but now I’m completely convinced that these things deserve the cult following.

Kiss Poise Looks So Natural Lashes are a good example of why splurging is a good idea when you’ve got coupons and Extra Care Bucks. I bought these on a whim, and what do you know, they’re actually pretty darn awesome. Just as the name states, they look super natural and they really are as light as a feather. I want to go back and grab more styles asap!

Nivea A Kiss of Moisture Lip Balm is another good reason to splurge when you’ve got coupons and such. I initially went to CVS in search of A Kiss of Milk & Honey when I saw these were on sale so I bought this one too. Turns out, I like A Kiss of Moisture soo much better! Which is saying a lot because A Kiss of Milk & Honey is pretty darn good too.

NARS Bourbon Street Larger Than Life Eyeliner is an old favorite so it always seems to make its way into my everyday rotation. Bourbon Street is a deep smoky eggplant that looks beautiful smudged along the bottom lid. I love using it smoke up my eyes and add a subtle pop of color.

Thanks for sharing your faves! I’m curious about the Dior Nudeskin Serum, sounds like it might be nice for summer. I tried the NARS All Day Weightless & Luminous Foundation, and it was really hard to work with (kind of a disaster) , so will be returning and searching for another one. And I have yet to try on false lashes, although I need them bad because my eyes are small and my lashes are short and thin. How long does it take for you to apply them?

Your lashes sound like mine except mine are thick and just in the way lol. So I totally think you should try falsies! Once you learn how to apply them, it takes less than 5 minutes to put them on. I was just telling someone that it takes me less time to apply falsies than it does to pile on coat after coat of mascara lol. I stopped by the NARS counter to try to find a match for that foundation (wasn’t so lucky) and one of the SAs told me it takes some trial and error to apply it and that he preferred his fingers. I don’t like using my fingers to apply foundation so it was an easy pass for me lol. The Dior Nude Air is great though! It’s super lightweight, offers buildable coverage and requires very little effort to apply it. And the finish is just amazing! So, so natural. I get compliments every time I wear it. I totally recommend grabbing a sample!

It’s definitely on my bucket list to master falsies! I love yours. Yeah, stay away from the NARS All Day Foundation – it’s a very tricky, finicky and expensive foundation, and I tried every which way to make it work (fingers, beauty blender, brush) and it didn’t play nice with any of the powders or primers I had, and I have many. I went to Sephora to check out Dior Nude Air, but unfortunately, it has fragrance (middle ingredient) , so I don’t think it’s going to work for me. So bummed, as I heard such great things about it 🙁

Yeah the fragrance in the Dior is rather strong for a foundation. I thought it would irritate my skin but so far, so good. From what I gathered from the NARS artist I spoke with, it’s best to skip the primer and use your fingers. Which is a little too fussy for the price IMO. Have you tried the NARS Tinted Moisturizer? I looove that stuff!

Thanks for the tip – will check it out! I’ve hear great things about NARS other face products.

No problem! Sheer Glow is really good too

  2. I’m glad to hear you also love Nude Air! I use mine on most days because it’s so easy to apply and so lightweight for spring! Really need to try some Ole Henriksen soon. I’ve heard great things about the brand!

Yesss!! It’s SO good! The moment I swatched it at the counter I knew I had to have it. You should definitely check out Ole Henriksen soon! His skincare line seems really great. I’ve only tried 2 products but they worked really well for me

  3. Nude Air is also one of my favorites! It’s just THE best foundation I have ever tried or seen.
I’ve been considering the NYX primer for a while but the price made me think twice. Does it make skin look oily faster on the T-zone?

    1. fancie

I have to agree with you and I have quite a few foundations in my stash lol. I barely want to wear anything else but Nude Air. My t-zone doesn’t really get oily so I can’t speak on that sorry. My forehead is forever shiny though and I can tell you that this doesn’t make it look shinier or draw attention to it either. It’s dewy but more of a soft naturally radiant kinda glow

Oh, Fancie, forgot to mention. I was at MAC, and checked out the Alpha Girl beauty powder you’ve been raving about. Wow, it is really gorgeous!! I have enough powders and highlighters to go thru right now, but I will definitely be keeping an eye out for new releases.

I’m glad you liked it! I think Alpha Girl is pretty hard to swatch so pictures don’t really do it justice. Seeing in person will definitely win ya over lol
