Kat Von D L.U.V. Everlasting Liquid Lipstick Review

I know I’m supposed to be the beauty blogger here but how did y’all let me go this long without trying the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks? How Sway?! From the very first time I swiped L.U.V. on my lips I knew I was going to love it. No pun intended.

Why? ‘Cause it’s one of the sexiest matte lipsticks ever! L.U.V. is a bright violet with slight pink undertones and an ultra matte finish. At first glance, it looks a lot like MAC’s Heroine lipstick but it’s slightly more pink, lighter and brighter. No to mention, the ultra matte finish really sets it apart. It’s sort of like MAC Retro Mattes but more matte–and more comfortable too!

Upon application, L.U.V. applies soft and creamy with a lightweight texture that slightly hugs the lips. As the formula begins to set, L.U.V. feels a bit sticky and uncomfortable. But once it sets (within a couple minutes) it’s pretty much budge-proof and easy on the lips. Of course, I recommend exfoliating and moisturizing prior to applying L.U.V. for the best results.

Besides the easy application, I just love how well L.U.V. wears. It lasts for a solid 7-8 hours before I notice any fading or it starts to feel a little drying. Even as it fades away, I don’t find L.U.V. terribly uncomfortable nor does it make the lips look dry and parched. Surprisingly enough, L.U.V. is pretty easy to wear! Now that I’ve finally gotten a chance to try the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks I can totally understand why they’re always flying off the shelves at Sephora. Although I only own 2 of them so far I’m gonna take a leap of faith and say that this is probably the best liquid to matte lipstick formula on the market!

I like that color on you! I’ve been shy about trying these because the colors look so bright, and the matte finish will amplify the brightness, I prefer a satin finish. Can you sheer the color down? And is it really ultra-matte or is there a shine to it?

It’s VERY matte when it dries down. There’s no sheen at all. These are pretty pigmented though. The only way I can think of sheering them out is applying a light layer to one lip and smooshing or applying a little balm beforehand. There’s some tamer shades in the line too that you might like though

  3. Looks perfect, love the finish!

Me too! It’s rather flattering for a matte

  4. You’ve definitely got my colour choice for my current Sephora order set in stone now, colour is just amazing. Looks pretty similar to Mac’s Up The Amp! xx
