How Often Do You Wash Your Makeup Brushes?

In celebration of the first day of May, I decided to gather up some of makeup brushes (old and new) and do a little spring cleaning. Why not kick off the month with some clean makeup brushes? I feel like it’s a great way to entice my usually lazy self to actually start wearing all this makeup I keep buying since I’m back working. A girl’s gotta get glam! But, I have to admit, that I abhor washing my makeup brushes. It reminds me a lot of washing dishes–another chore I could live without. However, deep cleansing my makeup brushes is a must! Especially since I have sensitive skin that’s prone to breakout over the silliest of things. So I tend to wash my brushes every other week or at least once a month if my schedule’s a little hectic.

I ‘m pretty good. I wash my eye shadow brushes every day, my blush and powder brushes 2x a week, as I can’t stand product build up on the brush, and my skin is sensitive too. I have a bunch of mostly cheap drugstore ones (EcoTools, Real Simple, Elf) that can stand up to constant washing, been doing this for about 2 years and they hold up really well. Then I have some higher end ones (IT Velvet Deluxe, IT Heavanly) that I wash 1x /week. I do it every night right before I go to bed, so nothing stacks up in a pile. I just use a little bit of Softsoap, press or wring out the water, press into a dry hand towel, then let it dry overnight horizontally.

You’re definitely disciplined! I could take a note or two lol. I have a habit of letting my brushes pile up. I have duplicates of most of my faves so instead of immediately washing them when they get dirty I grab a new one. Then end up washing a million brushes at once like this lol. I have to stop doing that! It’s exhausting after a while. But I’m not quite looking forward to diligently washing brushes all the time lol

I use only eye brushes regularly, so I wash them whenever I use them… and still grumble about it
