Lancôme Violette Pirouette Lip Lover Review
Sometimes in the beauty world, companies release products with gimmicky names that don’t always make sense. Like the CoverGirl Lip Lava glosses. I like the name, it’s cute. But when I think of lava, I think of hot. Not, “Ooo hot metallic glitta!” However, it seems that Lancôme was a little more spot on with their cute, yet gimmicky Lip Lover glosses. The first time I tried Violette Pirouette, I thought, “Wow. This stuff really does love lips!”
Violette Pirouette (not to be confused with Violette Coquette) is a soft shimmering purple with a slight pink undertone, some very fine purple shimmer and faint sweet grape scent. It’s not an “out there” or statement lip kinda purple. But a soft wash of purple that looks beautiful and nourishes your lips, too.
The Lancôme Lip Lover formula reminds me a lot of the Maybelline Color Elixir and L’Oreal Extraordinaire Lip Color formulas. It’s described as a “3-in-1 lip perfector that offers the ultimate non-sticky shine, rich lipstick-like color, and long lasting hydration.” It applies smoothly and evenly with a slightly thick, gel like texture that doesn’t feel heavy or sticky. Violette Pirouette is actually incredibly comfortable to wear and very moisturizing too. I wouldn’t say that Violette Pirouette delivers “rich lipstick-like color” though as it’s more on the sheer side. But it is buildable to semi-opaque coverage that allows a hint of your natural lip color to shine through. I like it. I actually like it a lot!
It even wears well lasting for a good 4-5 hours before fading into a soft purple stain and leaving my lips feeling hydrated and silky smooth. Overall, Violette Pirouette makes for a great on the go gloss with it’s easy to wear, lip lovin’ formula and cool purple. It’s a tad pricey at about $24 but it’s also a bit more hydrating than its drugstore counterparts so it’s worth the extra money if you feel like splurging. I definitely recommend trying one!
Oh that’s very pretty, and it looks so moisturizing too! I just thought it would be more purple, from looking at the tube
