Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation Review
It’s no secret that I love makeup like a fat kid loves cake. Lipsticks. Highlights. Blush. I love it all! However, most days I’m either a) feeling too lazy or b) too pressed for time to apply a full face of makeup. But when I feel like going all out (think full force slay) I like to start off with a foundation that blends easily, wears well and lasts all day. And that’s exactly what I get from the Maybelline Fit Me line. I love that stuff!
I first fell in love with the original Maybelline Fit Me Foundation years ago and it’s still a staple in my foundation stash today. So, as you can imagine, I was intrigued when I saw a display of the new Matte + Poreless version at CVS. My skin is more on the dry side but Fit Me has never let me down so I decided to put my faith in Maybelline and give Matte + Poreless a go.
There’s currently 16 shades ranging from fair to deep. I picked 355 Coconut, a deep golden brown with strong warm, red undertones. It’s the deepest shade in the line and also a pretty great match for me. Some brown skin divas claim the Fit Me line runs too orange but I have some pretty prominent red undertones in my complexion so Coconut works like a charm for me. Though I do wish it was slightly more yellow. Just a tiny bit. So it doesn’t cross over into Oompa Loompa territory!
Turns out, this stuff is pretty darn good! It’s just as smooth and creamy as the original version but the formula and color is slightly different. Matte + Poreless feels lightweight and glides across the skin easily (like the original version) but it offers a soft matte finish and higher coverage. The original formula offers light/medium coverage while Matte + Poreless is easily buildable to full coverage. I actually use a small (maybe nickel sized) drop for my entire face as this stuff is incredibly pigmented so it covers pretty well. All while giving the skin a soft matte finish that lasts for over 8 hours before I notice any fading.
Since I have dry skin, I’m always a little leery to try matte foundations but Matte + Poreless worked well for me. It didn’t make my face look tight, flaky or dry. Though it did settle into some of my fine lines so I recommend prepping the skin with a hydrating moisturizer and primer (like NARS Instant Line & Pore Perfector).
Overall, I think Matte + Poreless is yet another success for the Maybelline Fit Me line! It makes my complexion look flawless and it doesn’t break the bank at just $8. Whether you’re dry or oily, I think Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless is definitely worth the try if you can find a match!
