Shea Moisture Jenny Lip Gloss Review

Shea Moisture Jenny Lip Gloss

You know what I love? Trying new brands. Shea Moisture Cosmetics has been around for quite some time but in the midst of always trying to avoid that damn Target curse I inadvertently avoided the line. Until, of course, I stopped by Target to grab the new Sonia Kashuk brush set and somehow two Shea Moisture lip glosses crept into my basket.

After taking a peek at my vanity, I’m sure we could all agree I don’t need another lip gloss (or lipstick for that matter) but the Shea Moisture glosses had me curious. Mostly this beauty. Her name is Jenny and she’s a vibrant magenta with a cool undertone and lots of fine blue shimmer. She comes on a little sheer at first but it doesn’t take much to build her up to full juicy intensity. Even on my pigmented lips.

While the packaging looks all fun and new aged there’s still an old school feel to Jenny. For instance, she sports that faint plastic-y chemical scent that was all the rage back in the day. But thank goodness there’s no taste and it doesn’t linger! She also has an incredibly stiff brush applicator that you have to bend/snap to release the bristles and make her easier to apply.

Once you snap all the stiffness out of the applicator, Jenny seems much less intimidating and applies quite well. The brush applicator is small but it picks up enough product to coat my full lips in a single application. The formula glides across the lips with a slightly thick and tacky gel-like texture that doesn’t feel heavy or sticky at all. Jenny was actually lightly moisturizing and very comfortable to wear for around 3-5 hours before fading into an intense stain.

As long as you don’t mind the faint plastic scent or cracking open the applicator I think Jenny is worth that dangerous trip to Target. The color is insanely beautiful and the formula is actually pretty good!

Oh wow!! I was not expecting such a bright beautiful color from Shea Moisture! And look at the crazy shimmers, they make your lips shiny as glass, would do an Atlanta housewife proud! I need to check these out! Uh oh, I see another trip to Target, where a $10 lip gloss will cost $200 after you walk out with a shopping cart full of stuff ……And what is that gorgeous purple liner you are wearing??

LOL isn’t that how it always goes? I went to today to replace the other gloss I have since I broke it. It turned out to be sold out so I walked out with everything but. The joys of Target! If you can manage to make it out of there alive I say go for it!
