What Were Your Favorite Lippies this Summer?
Now that summer is finally winding down and we’re slowly creeping into fall it’s time to start kissing our summer favorites goodbye and getting ready to bring out the deeper, richer makeup we’ve been saving for fall and winter. I’m certainly going to miss all the warm weather and sunshine but sneaking in a bold, bright lip here and there is certainly what I’m going to miss the most about summer.
Nude lips are functional but they just can’t beat that fun, carefree vibe you get when you slip on one of your favorite summer lippies. There’s nothing like it! Here’s the scoop on my favorite summer lippies this year:
MAC Tats Lipstick This bright beauty was the only lipstick I ended up snagging from the Giambattista Valli collection and it turned out to be such a tease because I love it. The poppin’ hot pink packaging makes me smile every time I see it sitting pretty on my vanity. And the color? It’s bright enough to knock your socks off and soo pretty too! I have a feeling I’ll probably be pairing Tats with a nice vampy liner to carry into fall for a bit.
Kat Von D L.U.V. Everlasting Liquid Lipstick From the moment I first tried L.U.V. I knew it was going to be a lasting love affair. I’ve been wearing this pretty purple liquid matte lipstick out this summer as the color is vibrant and playful and formula is long lasting. I always get compliments whenever I wear it and I love that it holds up through pretty much everything.
Urban Decay Bittersweet Revolution Lip Gloss After falling in love with Bittersweet blush it was a no brainer to pick up this baby for a matching wash of purple on the lips. And what do you know? It hasn’t left my work bag since I’ve purchased it! I love using it as a lipstick topper when my lips are starting to feel a little dry. Or rocking it solo for soft pop of color at work. I may have to kiss summer goodbye soon but this is another hippie I think I’ll be carrying over into fall.
Maybelline Nude Nuance Color Sensational Matte Lipstick For every party you need a party pooper and I guess Nude Nuance would be it for this get together. But don’t count this baby out though! It’s a rather flattering everyday nude lip that’s suitable for a variety of complexions and pretty fuss free too. It’s become one of my go to work lippies and the ultimate summer nude.

Great colors – I just got a new one from Sephora – and I really like it. It really stays on – it’s there (oh fooey I can’t find the box) 10 hr long wearing lip creams I think. It’s not drying at all and the colors are really pretty. I got a frosted brown. It stayed on forever!!! They have bright colors like you like too – I’m just more subdued… because my lips are so small. I’ve really been liking the NARS birthday one in the Cruella. It is creamy and it lasts and lasts. I wear it to work. It’s bright, but I love it. I ordered the Sephora lip creme in Blackberry? It doesn’t say what it is either — but it’s real close to one that I already have, I thought it was darker. Oh well. I hope I like the formula. I LOVE the Chanel mascara!!!! Karen was right, it is the BOMB!!!
Ooo that sounds like something I need to try! I could definitely use a 10 hr lip stain at work. I think Blackberry might be one of those lip cremes that I reviewed not too long ago. If so, I REALLY liked them so I think you may like them too. They’re a little more forgiving than the Kat Von D ones. Which Chanel mascara did you try? Le Volume or Inimitable? I love Inimitable!
Hey girl!!! I got Le Volume! I love it. It takes a bit to dry, it is a really wet mascara – but man, it only takes one coat! I have to watch or I’ll have it on my upper eye – but when it gives that much length – who’s complaining! I finally did try the Sephora lip stain and it is darker, and I really like it. Also — I’ve used the BB eyeshadow crayon in gold/pink twice and I love it!!! It is SO beautiful. I did two stunning eye looks for work this week with it. I do some different looks than other folks, or at least what I see on youtube. I don’t follow the rules of no frosts for hooded eyes and light has to blend into dark. If my phone had a better camera I’d take pictures of my creations sometimes just for fun – but since I got rid of the iPhone it’s just no use. I sure like the bill better tho! I do miss my iPhone – but oh well. I checked around again for the Miliani lip stains and no luck. I’m loving the stuff you sent. The balm smells heavenly!!! 🙂
I have to try that one next. Especially if it’s as good as Inimitable! I’m glad you’re enjoying the stain and your Bobbi goodies!! Golden Pink is pretty much all I wear on my eyes now because it’s so beautiful and super easy to use. That cleansing balm is the bomb too! I recommend it to everyone at the counter. It’s soo good!
Yes girl, the moisturizer is lovely! I’m wanting that now! I know that it will/would be excellent for winter when I tend to get a bit dryer. I’m trying to hold on to it, but I just keep reaching for it! The golden pink is so beautiful, it’s so light reflective. It goes with everything – every eye combo I’ve done. I can see myself buying the full sized version of that one. You must just be in hog heaven there at Bobbie’s! I’m SO happy for you Fancie. It’s so important to enjoy your work. I wish I could say the same. I don’t hate it, it just makes me so nervous sometimes. I suppose I need to look at other options sometime soon, I just love my boss. If all of our systems weren’t so antiquated. We need undercover boss!!!!!

Anything coral, Nyx Butter Lipstick in Pops, Too Faced Melted Rainbow, Kat von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in A Go-Go, and ABH Liquid Lipstick in Party Pink. My two new favorites are JCat Pout-holic Lipstick in Candy Man and Nyx Suede Cream Lipstick in Stone Fox.

My go -too’s for this summer has been, Ruby Kisses Purple Affair with Seductive Bloom in the middle, OCC in Hoochie, Lancome’ In Dusty Rose, and Dior Incognito.

I’ve been all about a nude lip this summer. I’ve been going between Milani’s Matte Naked and NYX’s Abu Dhabi.
