Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat Blur Primer Review

Most people seem to struggle and complain about their oily skin problems. But things could be worse. You could have, gasp, dry skin problems. My makeup probably won’t end up sliding off my face by the end of the day but that doesn’t mean that having dry skin is a walk in the park either.

For starters, people with dry skin have to mega-moisturize with lotions, creams, oils and everything in between to keep our skin from looking all flaky and gross. Then we have to layer on more creams and such to combat those pesky signs of aging which develop and show twice as quickly on dry skin. See? Dry skin ain’t easy!

One of the biggest problems I have with my dry skin is the deep, fine dry lines I’ve developed under my eyes and around my mouth. They’re the worst when it comes to makeup! The fine lines under my eyes are so dry that my concealer starts to look dry and cakey by the end of the day and concealer starts to pool up and crease. It never fails. I’ve tried multiple eye creams, concealers and powders to no avail.

I’ve had the same struggles with the lines around my mouth too. Thankfully, they’re not as dry as the ones under my eyes but they almost immediately start to soak up foundation and powder leaving noticeable lines and creases before the day is halfway over. Such a pain in the ass!

Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat Blur Primer Review

The only thing that’s seemed to ease my troubles has been the new Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat Blur Primer that I received in my Influenster YSL Vox Box. This stuff is God sent! At first glance, I thought it would be similar to my beloved NYX Honey Dew Me Up Primer Serum but the formulas are totally different.

The Blur Primer is a plant-oil based formula loaded with very fine flecks of golden shimmer and a slightly thick clear gel-like texture that’s lightly moisturizing and absorbs pretty quickly. It feels a lot like a silicone based primer the way it glides on and smoothes out my complexion but it’s very lightweight and doesn’t clog the pores like some silicone based primers.

Like Honey Dew Me Up, Blur Primer adds a soft radiance to the skin but YSL kicks it up a notch by offering a slight blurring effect that works like a charm at minimizing the appearance of pores and softening and plumping fine lines. It’s the one primer in my arsenal that has made a significant difference in the way my makeup holds up against my fine, dry lines. Since I’ve started using this stuff, my concealer and foundation holds up much better with very little creasing, if any at all. As you can see from the shot above I’ve already used up almost half of this stuff because it works so incredibly well. I hate that it’ll cost me the price of an unborn child (j/k lol – it’s $52) but I’ll be the first gal in line at Sephora to buy more when I finally run out.

I can totally see the Blur Primer working for oily skin too but I highly recommend it for my dry skin gals. If you suffer with fine lines like I do then you need to run your butt to your local Sephora or Nordstrom to grab a sample of this stuff!
