Walgreens Disney Villains Lipsticks Review

Disney Potion, Dragon's Lair, Majestic Lipstick

‘Tis the season for red lipstick! Disney has teamed up with Walgreens to launch an incredibly cute (and affordable) Villains Collection for fall. There’s 3 lipsticks in the collection inspired by our favorite Disney Villains: Evil Queen, Maleficent and Ursula. All 3 leading ladies of doom rock a mean red lip so it was only right that Disney whipped up 3 devilishly enchanting red lipsticks to channel our inner villainess.

Disney Potion Lipstick

First up, is the Evil Queen’s Potion Lipstick, a bright warm red with a very slight orange undertone and satin finish. It’s a rather flattering red that I think would look great on a variety of complexions but the formula could use some work. Potion was very dry and tended to drag across the lips leaving a patchy finish. In fact, it was so dry that it snapped when I tried to even it out. Once I got it on, Potion wore comfortably for around 4-5 hours. Still not a fan of this one though.

Disney Dragon's Lair Lipstick

Maleficent’s Dragon’s Lair Lipstick, on a lighter note, was love at first sight. It’s a deep brown-red with a satin finish that’s smooth, creamy and easy to apply. Nothing like Potion. Dragon’s Lair went on smoothly and evenly with great pigmentation and lasted for around 5-6 hours without feeling drying at all. I think it’s a wonderful fall red for WOC or anyone who’s a fan of brown based reds. It’s so gorgeous!

Disney Majestic Lipstick

Ursula’s Majestic Lipstick is surprisingly becoming one of my favorite shades of the bunch. It’s an incredibly bright cool red with a slight pink undertone satin finish. Majestic is very creamy and applies smoothly and evenly with great pigmentation. It lasts comfortably for around 5-6 hours before fading into a solid stain.

Overall, I think Disney did a pretty decent job with the lipsticks in the Villains Collection, minus Potion. Dragon’s Lair and Ursula were a dream to work with but I wouldn’t necessarily trade them for my favorite MAC reds. They’re definitely great lipsticks for the price ($4) but the packaging and the scent holds them back a little. The Disney Villains Lipsticks are packaged a lot like NYX’s lipsticks which means they feel (and look) cheap and aren’t fully retractable so they have a tendency to break. I’m also not the biggest fan of the plastic-y scent these sport either. Thankfully it isn’t strong but it’s worth taking into consideration if you have a sensitive nose. As long as you love red and Disney Villains, I think it’ll be easy to overlook these minor blips and pick these babies up before they disappear.
