NYC Smooch Proof Liquid Lip Stain Haul & Swatches
I think we all can appreciate how much drugstore brands have greatly improved over the years. There’s been some really great drugstore collections lately like Milani’s Amore Matte Lip Creams and Walgreen’s Disney Villains Collection that give department store brands a run for their money. But man do these improvements come with some drawbacks! For starters, some brands are starting to get a bit pricey (*cough* NYX *cough*). However, my biggest problem is how damn easy it is to walk out with one or two (or even three!) extra products you barely knew existed because they were cute and cheap. What a curse!
I’ve been trying my best to become more frugal and financially responsible over the years but somewhere down the line I’ve gotten used to paying $20+ for a single lipstick. So when I come across some lippies for a mere $3 I’m all over it. Like grabbing several different shades without a clue on the formula.
That’s exactly what happened to me a while ago when I went to CVS. I spotted these new NYX Smooch Proof Liquid Lip Stains in some pretty tempting shades and didn’t hesitate a lick to grab 3 of them. You know I love me some liquid lipsticks, girl! I grabbed:
- 310 Perpetually Mauve
- 320 Unforgettable Fuchsia
- 400 On Everyone’s Lips
However, these are exactly what the name states: lip stains. Which I detest. See what I mean about that darn drugstore curse? LOL! Clearly I wasn’t paying too much attention to the label that day because I was a little surprised when I pulled them out today. They’re incredibly lightweight with a thin liquid-y texture that sets pretty almost instantly to an intense stain. I tried removing the swatches after shooting them but the pinks were relentless. The stain just wouldn’t come off even with a makeup wipe and micellar water. So I have pretty high hopes for the staying power. I’m just hoping the Smooch Proof Liquid Lip Stains are comfortable to wear because I find lip stains to be incredibly drying and uncomfortable.

Ahh, they’re $3 now? NYC was one of the brands I used to buy when I just started getting into makeup, and everything was more or less a dollar! They make some pretty good lipstick. =) I’ve never really tried lip stains, honestly! I hope it isn’t too drying… NYX has gotten hellishly expensive as of late!
