Best of 2015: Blush

If there’s one makeup product I tend to show a little loyalty towards it’s blush. I’ll change my lipstick and maybe even my foundation and concealer on a regular basis but once I find a blush I love I stick with it. I spent a lot of 2015 working so I stuck to quick, simple looks that required blush I could throw on with little effort but maximum results.

My hectic schedule didn’t leave much room for switching up my blush wardrobe much, but on the bright side, I ended up discovering 4 new gems including:

NARS Lovejoy Blush From the moment I laid eyes on Lovejoy I knew it was going to be in heavy rotation in my stash. Lovejoy is bronze rose with golden shimmer that adds a nice glow as well as a beautiful flush of warmth. It became a staple for my quick natural looks when I needed to add a little color and sheen to my face but didn’t have enough time for highlighter, bronzer, blending and all that jazz.

Too Faced Your Love is King Love Flush Blush Ironically, I tend to stray away from pink blushes but Your Love Is King made things a little easier (and cuter) with its hint of berry and cute bunny and heart imprints. Your Love Is King was my go to blush for fall and winter because it added a much needed pop of color to my dull complexion without looking too bright or summery.

Urban Decay Bittersweet Afterglow Blush It took long enough for higher end brands to catch on to purple blush but kudos to Urban Decay because they got it right with Bittersweet. Bittersweet is a vibrant purple with a slight pink undertone that’s actually quite wearable. It pulls a little more muted once applied giving a soft purple wash to the cheeks that’s so beautiful. I’m a pink and purple lip junkie so I wore Bittersweet for most of 2015 to pair with my favorite lippies.

Urban Decay Rapture Afterglow Blush For years I’ve relied on my limited edition MAC Small Vanity Blush for a soft, girly wash of color but I’ve finally found a permanent staple in Rapture. Rapture is a deep mauve with a dash of shimmer that I wore almost everyday in the fall. Not only does it look beautiful alone but it pairs beautifully with other blushes too.

What were your favorite blushes last year?

Ohh, gorgeous!! Lovejoy I bet is especially pretty on you. Your Love is King looks so adorable, I can’t take it. Bittersweet would look beautiful on you… on this skin, either like I got punched or like a serious eyeshadow mishap. <:o

    1. Lovejoy has become my baby. It’s like the perfect natural blush for me. You would LOVE Your Love is King though! It’s definitely a blush that’ll fit you well without looking bruise-y LOL. Sorry Bittersweet didn’t work for you! Purple blush can be a little tricky lol

I can believe that! 🙂 Ahh… maybe some day I can save up enough to splurge on it, it was the one I was eyeing from the get-go, but I went with I’ll Always Love You… is it sad I feel responsible for buying a more neutral blush rather than a bold one? LOL.

        1. Lol not at all! I love bold colors but I definitely prefer a neutral blush over a bold one any day. I get way more use out of them since I can pair it with any look. Neutral blushes are like an investment lol

Another vote for UD Bittersweet to go with my purple lippies! Also loved Too Faced Love Blush in I Will Always Love You ( peach), goes well with Nude Nuance. And finally got NARS Lovejoy – on me, it’s a shimmery mix brown with a little plum, pretty!

    1. I have to start back wearing I Will Always Love You. It’s more of a highlight on me but I still liked the way it looks. I’m glad you’re enjoying Lovejoy too! It took me a while to finally use it and now I’m hooked!
