Best of 2015: Highlighters
If you know me, you know I love to glow so you know I was switching up highlighters like crazy in 2015. Especially with all of the beautiful new releases we saw last year. The strobing trend had everyone jumping on the bandwagon to pump out shimmering powders and creams that’ll have your highlight on fleek.
Although I enjoyed a lot of variety in my highlighters last year I still managed to keep a few around for longer than I expected because the glow was just too good. Here were my favorite highlighters of 2015:
Make Up For Ever 2 Golden Pro Sculpting Duo MUFE kicked off 2015 with highlighting and contouring duos that had the most stunning highlighters I’ve ever seen. I grabbed the darkest of the bunch, Golden, specifically for the highlight and ended up getting hooked for weeks. The highlight is a yellow gold with multi-dimensional iridescent shimmer that dances when the light hits it. Golden was my go to highlight for late winter and early spring.
Becca Blushed Copper Shimmering Skin Perfector Summertime calls for a more pronounced bronze glow so I switched to Blushed Copper–which was perfect. It’s a deep copper that looks beautiful on my brown skin and even doubles as a natural blush. I reached for it all through the summer because it gave my complexion the perfect flush of warmth plus a killer glow that lasted all day.
Ruby Kisses Bronze Glow All Over Glow Powder I learned last year that the beauty supply actually has some rather nice quality makeup. I discovered Bronze Glow which turned out to be a rather amazing highlighter. Bronze Glow is a deep golden bronze that’s pigmented and packs a serious glow. I found myself wearing it a lot in the winter because it added a little warmth to my complexion and fought off my dull winter skin blues.
ColourPop Avalon Super Shock Cheek It took me a long time to jump on the ColourPop bandwagon but once I did Avalon was one of my first picks. Avalon is one of the most raved about ColourPop highlighters and it’s for good reason. It’s a deep coppery bronze with eye popping glitter that’s super reflective making for an out of this world glow–but it still looks natural. I fell in love with Avalon’s soft buttery formula that I started wearing it religiously in the fall. I’m definitely going to be bringing Avalon into 2016 too!
Bobbi Brown Bronze Glow Highlighting Powder You know a highlighter is good when it’s released twice! Bobbi Brown first released Bronze Glow back in 2014 as part of her limited edition holiday collection but it was so insanely good that makeup junkies demanded its return. In 2015, Bobbi re-launched Bronze Glow making it limited edition again but it’s still all good. Bronze Glow is a golden bronze with a creamy texture that delivers a glow like no other. From late fall and through most of the winter, Bronze Glow was my go to highlighter because it made me glow like crazy and feel like glowing golden goddess.
MAC Cinderella Coupe D’Chic Iridescent Pressed Powder I didn’t think the MAC Cinderella Collection was all that great but I really enjoyed Coupe D’Chic. It was the only thing I hauled from the collection and I’m super happy I was able to get my hands on it. The packaging is absolutely beautiful, of course, but the powder itself turned out to be quite impressive too. Coupe D’Chic is a sheer peachy beige loaded with chunky gold shimmer that makes for a great nighttime highlight. When blended, Coupe D’Chic has an insane gold sheen that makes my cheeks look like they’ve been dipped in solid 24 karat gold. Coupe D’Chic was all I wore when I went out over the summer.

Great colors, great shimmer! For highlighters, I love Becca and Colour Pop Lunch Money.
