I think we can all agree that working at Ulta is incredibly tempting, right? Hell, just walking in there as a regular customer can be a doozy because there’s way too much stuff to love. There’s makeup, skincare, hair products, nail polish and a ton of other goodies that are just too tempting to leave in the store. I think what kills me the most is the mix of drugstore and high end brands because it’s easy to splurge either way–at the same damn time.
After a long week of hard work, I almost always feel like I should reward myself with a little treat (or two) for pulling through. I think everyone needs to reward themselves after a long week of work. And what better way to reward yourself than with clearance lipsticks? You can’t beat cheap and cute!
I think we can all agree that I don’t need anymore lipsticks but when I came across a clearance bin full of Ulta brand lipsticks I decided to dig through it and see what I could find. Since I picked up the lovely Ulta Beauty 14 piece gift, I’ve been spending a ton of time checking out the Ulta Beauty Collection and I have to say that I’m rather impressed. I’ve been swatching a few products here and there since I first started working there but, of course, the free gift pushed me to really get to the nitty gritty of things. What I discovered was a ton of surprisingly great quality products that I’m just itching to add to my collection. Especially the lipsticks.
I have my eye on quite a few of the Ulta Beauty lipsticks and even a couple of glosses so I decided to grab a few of the clearance shades to check out the formula. After a few minutes of frantically digging, I settled upon:
- 206 Coral Glow Lipstick peachy brown nude
- 255 Fuchsia Fun Weightless Lipstick bubblegum pink
- 260 Blush Lately Weightless Lipstick bright fuchsia pink
All 3 shades have a sheer, lightweight texture that definitely requires some building for full intensity but they seem to layer nicely. The formula actually reminds me of the MAC Cremesheen formula as it’s really lightweight and rather sheer with a nice juicy sheen. I do prefer bolder lipsticks with a little more pigment but I really like the texture and feel of Ulta Beauty’s lipsticks so far. They seem like exactly what my dry lips need right now.
I also picked up the Berry Contour Lip Liner. It wasn’t on sale but after helping our lovely esthetician pick out a nice purple liner for a makeup application I was all over it. Berry is a deep berry purple that’s super creamy and pigmented. I live for lip liners when it comes to bold pinks and purples so Berry was a must have for me. I’ve already tried it on and I’m super impressed with the formula. Berry glides on with ease as its super creamy with a soft texture that doesn’t feel super dry on the lips like some lip liners. I think I may like Berry better than my MAC lip liners!
