Estee Lauder 130 Bittersweet Pure Color Envy Liquid Lip Potion Review
Usually when I think of liquid lipsticks, I think of a slightly (or severely) drying formula that’s intense and lasts all day long. That’s not always the case though. Some liquid lipsticks are much easier on the lips sporting a softer formula that’s nothing like the average liquid-to-matte lipsticks we’ve gotten so used to seeing these days. Similar to L’Oreal and Maybelline, Estee Lauder has taken a more comfortable approach to liquid lipsticks with the new Pure Color Envy Liquid Lip Potions. And I’m kinda digging it.
It doesn’t last nearly as long as my ColourPop or Kat Von D liquid lipsticks (which I love) but the Pure Color Envy Liquid Lip Potion formula feels so good on the lips that I don’t mind. I picked up one of them in Bittersweet a little while ago and I decided to whip it out after falling for Shameless Violet. Bittersweet is a muted mauve with a brown undertone that’s the perfect everyday pinky nude for my complexion. Or any complexion. Bittersweet is quite flattering and incredibly easy for anyone to pull off.
The formula is quite nice too. Bittersweet applies smoothly and evenly with full coverage in a single swipe and a creamy satin finish. It has a lightweight, whipped creamy texture that’s plush with a soft floral scent. Bittersweet almost feels like a gloss as it has an airy feel that adds a touch of moisture and sheen to the lips without feeling sticky or tacky. Unlike common liquid lipstick formulas, Bittersweet doesn’t fully dry down so it does transfer considerably and doesn’t hold up too well during heavy meals like a liquid-to-matte formula.
Bittersweet wears comfortably for around 3-5 hours which is a little short for your average liquid lipstick. But Bittersweet is quite different and the formula is really great for dry lips so I can easily layer on more for quick touch ups that doesn’t feel dry or begin to look cakey. For most people, liquid lipsticks are a solution for all day lip color that’s popping from morning to night. However, Bittersweet is a more laid-back liquid lipstick that’s better suited for dry lips that prefer a less high maintenance approach to liquid lipsticks. If you’re addicted to liquid-to-matte formulas then you probably won’t be a fan of the Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Liquid Lip Potions. But if you’re looking for a more plush liquid lipstick that’s easy to apply with fuss free touchups then I think you’ll enjoy the Bittersweet Pure Color Envy Liquid Lip Potion too.
