Maybelline Spring 2016 Collection Now Available at Ulta!
It’s raining new products at Ulta and I’m going broke because of it! LOL I’m kidding. But I’ve definitely been hauling my butt off lately. Between all the new drugstore and prestige releases that have been coming back to back I’ve been losing my mind. It’s like I can’t catch up! The latest spring collection to catch my attention comes from Maybelline. Like NYX, Maybelline has whipped up a lot of new products. And they’re looking mighty nice!
One of the first products to catch my eye was the new Master Contour Face Contouring Kit. It’s a powder highlight and contour kit with a contour powder, blush and highlight that comes in 2 shades: one for light to medium skin tones and another with medium to dark skin tones. Of course, I grabbed the darkest one for medium to dark skin tones. I’ve only swatched it so far so I can’t give a thorough scoop just yet. However, I think if you’re looking for a straight up contour this ain’t it. The contour shade seems to come off more like a bronzer but the bush and highlight shades are quite beautiful. Even on my brown skin. I still can’t wait to give the Master Contour Face Contouring Kit a try but I have a feeling that it’s going to be better suited for the more medium side of the spectrum than us dark skin divas.
There’s also been a lot of hype surrounding the new Dream Velvet Soft-Matte Hydrating Foundation so I went ahead and grabbed the deepest shade, 95 Coconut. The Dream Velvet Soft-Matte Hydrating Foundation seems to be a drugstore dupe for the new NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint with its whipped gel formula and soft matte finish to diminish shine without the flat, dry finish. I usually opt for more hydrating formulas with a satin or dewy finish but the new Dream Velvet Soft-Matte Hydrating Foundation has been racking up some pretty good reviews so I’m curious to see how I’ll like it once my skin clears back up.
Finally. I grabbed 3 of the new Color Sensational Vivid Matte Liquid Lip Colors. There’s 10 shades in the range and I grabbed 3 of them including:
- 5 Nude Thrill peachy beige
- 40 Berry Boost bold berry pink
- 50 Possessed Plum vampy plum
I’m wearing Nude Thrill as I write this and the formula reminds me a lot of the L’Oreal Infallible Pro Matte Gloss. The Vivid Matte Liquid Lip Color isn’t a liquid matte formula but more of a “matte gloss” with a velvet matte finish that doesn’t seem to dry down. I’m still wrapping my head around this kind of formula but they aren’t too bad. I definitely would have preferred Maybelline to whip up a liquid matte lipstick formula to compete with the higher end brands but I’m still digging the Vivid Matte Liquid Lip Colors so far.
Have you tried any of the new Maybelline spring releases yet?
