New NYX Lippies at Ulta!
Being a Prestige Manager at Ulta is probably one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. Not only is a ton of hard work but it comes with a lot of temptation too. A lot. Especially with all of these new spring collections rolling out at the same time. I’ve damn near given myself whiplash walking through the store some days because I don’t know what to swatch or buy first. And it doesn’t help that Ulta carries both prestige and drugstore brands of practically everything. My poor wallet!
In between managing my department, I like to take long romantic walks down the mass cosmetics aisles to check out the new Makeup Revolution booth (now available in stores yay!) and all of the new NYX spring goodies that just keeps catching my eye. I started off somewhat small with a few lippies and a couple contouring goodies but the more I see (and swatch), the more I want. And, baby, I want it all!
There’s a ton of new NYX lippies for spring including 12 new shades of the oh so yummy Intense Butter Gloss. I grabbed one in Cinnamon Roll during my first sweep of the spring collection but I really had my eye on Rocky Road, which sold out lightening fast. Apparently I’m not the only one digging brown lips because Rocky Road, a deep red brown, has been selling so well at Ulta that it quickly became a fan favorite online too. Once my store restocked all of the new Intense Butter Gloss shades it was on and popping! I quickly grabbed Rocky Road as it’s right up my alley this winter. Plus the Intense Butter Gloss formula is definitely one of my faves. When they first released last year, I snatched up almost the entire line with no regrets because they’re super pigmented, non-sticky and seriously butter soft on my lips. I have a feeling Cinnamon Roll and Rocky Road won’t be the last shades I grab from the spring collection. The Intense Butter Glosses are just way too addicting!
Although ultra matte liquid lipsticks are still all the rage this season I just couldn’t resist passing up on the new Soft Matte Lip Cream shades. There’s also 12 brand spankin’ new shades added to the Soft Matte Lip Cream lineup and they’re just as tempting (if not more ?) than the Intense Butter Glosses. I managed to escape this haul with just 2 of them in Havana and Vancouver but I’m more than positive I’ll be going back for a couple more because NYX really pulled all the stops out for their spring launch. This time around I picked up Havana, a purple with a blue undertone, and Vancouver, a deep purple. Can you tell I’ve also been loving purple lately? LOL! Both shades caught my eye because I’m addicted to vampy purples like Vancouver and Havana was just so darn unique that I had to have it. Not to mention, my beloved ColourPop Ultra Matte Liquid Lipsticks have been drying my lips out a bit so it’ll be nice to switch to NYX’s softer, less drying Soft Matte Lip Creams for a moment.
I suppose 12 is NYX’s lucky number this spring because they also added 12 new shades to the Matte Lipstick line as well. I’ve tried a couple of their Matte Lipsticks in the past and really enjoyed the formula so I went crazy when I seen the new shades NYX whipped up this spring. I recently grabbed 2 of them in Up the Bass and Goal Digger which quickly became faves of mine so I went back for another, Honeymoon. Honeymoon is a mauve pink with just a touch of grey that was one of the first shades on my list but also the first shade to sell out at my location. I could have bounced for joy when it was finally restocked as it looks like the perfect everyday nudey pink for brown skin–but with an edge. I can definitely see why Honeymoon sold out so quickly.
Lastly, I grabbed 2 of the new Full Throttle Waterproof Lipsticks. ‘Cause a girl can never have too many lipsticks. Especially when they’re waterproof! The new Full Throttle Lipsticks have been racking up a ton of great reviews from all over and became sort of an overnight sensation so I had to see what all the fuss was about. I really liked the texture when I swatched them in the store so I decided to pick up 2 of them. I settled on Kiss the Dust, a deep beige, and Night Crawler, a deep blackened purple. I haven’t put the Full Throttle formula to the test just yet but I’m definitely looking forward to seeing how they hold up since I’m usually sipping coffee or guzzling water throughout the day. Here’s to hoping they’re actually waterproof!
