Urban Decay Rail 24/7 Waterline Eye Pencil Review

Urban Decay Rail 24/7 Waterline Eye Pencil

A good eyeliner can be hard to find but Urban Decay is one of the few brands I’ve tried that has made life a little easier for makeup lovers. The 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencils have been creeping into my collection for years now with limited edition sets and my recent acquisition of the beautiful Stash. However, it took the new 24/7 Waterline Eye Pencils to really make me realize just how well Urban Decay has perfected their eyeliner formula. My eyes are intensely watery all year round. Especially in the morning as I’m applying my makeup. Which makes getting ready a hassle sometimes because everything is sliding off after the slight water works. My eye cream, falsies and, of course, my eyeliner too.

I’ve found a few eyeliner formulas that hold up pretty well on my lash line despite my watery eyes but I haven’t had quite as much success with finding a solid formula that’ll hold on to my waterline. Marc Jacobs turned out to be a nice contender with his Highliner Gel Eye Crayon formula but it’s a little expensive at $25 a pop. So I decided to give Urban Decay’s 24/7 Waterline Eye Pencils a try since they’re a few bucks cheaper and contain a bit more product. It’s a good thing I have my cheap moments because I like the 24/7 Waterline Eye Pencil formula just as much as the Marc Jacobs Highliners.

The first shade I decided to try was Rail, a deep blackened brown that adds definition without looking quite as dark or harsh as a straight up black. I don’t usually do brown eyeliners as they’re never quite dark enough to show up on me without disappearing into my complexion but Rail is certainly the exception to the rule. It’s deep enough to define my waterline and make my eyes standout yet it still looks natural enough for everyday wear.

The best apart about Rail is that the formula works very well. It’s smooth, creamy and glides on easily with intense pigmentation–even as my eyes water. I just love how I can apply Rail first thing in the morning before work and still come home with traces of brown on my waterline 7-8 hours later. Of course, there’s a bit of smudging but the 24/7 Waterline Eye Pencil formula still holds up very well without giving me raccoon eyes or sliding all over the place. The farthest Rail will end up by the end of the day is right below my waterline–like smudged shadow on my bottom lid. I have to admit, the Urban Decay 24/7 Waterline Eye Pencils have thoroughly impressed me and I’m already plotting on buying more. I highly recommend trying one!

Wow, I’ve seen mixed reviews on these, for some, they fail miserably, but others seems to work. I have a wet waterline, will have to give this one a try
