Well, Hello Smashbox!

Well, Hello Smashbox!

Don’t you just love trying out new brands? I do too! There are certain brands that’ll always be my go to for certain products like Too Faced for eyeshadow, Anastasia (or Becca) for highlighters and ColourPop for lipsticks. Every now and then, I like to branch out and see what other fish are in the sea. Just for a little more variety, you know? After months of playing and swatching Smashbox products here and there I finally got a chance to get my hands on a few products and I’m pretty happy that I gave them a chance.

Smashbox L.A. Lights Culver City Coral Blush & Highlight Palette

Smashbox isn’t quite as popular as Too Faced, Anastasia Beverly Hills or ColourPop but their lineup consists of some pretty solid products that I think are underrated and totally overlooked. I’ve been eyeing the new L.A. Lights Blush & Highlight Palettes since their release and recently got a chance to try one in Culver City Coral. Culver City Coral has a mix of peach and pinky coral blushes with peachy coral highlighter with fine gold shimmer. It’s the perfect palette for pretty much all skin tones as it’s soft yet rather pigmented and adds a beautiful touch of warmth and flush of color to the cheeks. Especially on my brown skin. Both blushes show up very well on me and have a smooth buttery texture that applies and blends well. The highlighter is quite the charmer too! It’s very soft and subtle but buildable for a more pronounced glow that makes me look naturally radiant. I was pleasantly surprised by how nicely the Culver City L.A. Lights Blush & Highlight Palette turned out to be. It’s hard to believe that it isn’t plastered all over Instagram and YouTube with raving reviews. You definitely need to check it out!

Smashbox Photo Matte Eyes Palette

I also got my hands on the Photo Matte Eyes Palette that features 8 matte eyeshadows that also double as brow powders and eyeliners. The color range consists of a mix of cool neutrals that are suitable for all skin tones. I was a little apprehensive to try the Photo Matte Eyes Palette because matte shadows can be iffy when it comes to the formula and I’ve never tried any Smashbox shadows. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect but was blown away by how nice the Photo Matte Eyes Palette turned out to be. I’ve been using the two dark browns in the bottom row consistently to define my crease and the finished result is always amazing. The formula is soft, buttery, very pigmented and quite easy to blend. Neither shade felt chalky or dense and they didn’t look powdery when applied either. The quality of the Smashbox Photo Matte Eyes Palette actually reminds me a lot of my Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palettes which is huge because they’re my favorite palettes in my collection. I can’t believe I’ve waited so long to discover how amazing Smashbox really is!
