ColourPop LaLa Super Shock Shadow Review
The way ColourPop has blown up over the last 2 years it’s easy to believe that their products are all just hype. Let me assure you, though. They are not! Pretty much everything ColourPop comes up with turns to gold because their formulas are absolutely amazing and crazy affordable the quality. Before I got sucked into the ColourPop cult, I used to think that it was just another Instagram trend/phase that would come and go but there’s plenty of reasons why ColourPop will stick around for many more years to come. I’m a huge fan of their lippies but now I’m starting to see the magic that is in their Super Shock Shadows too. I don’t typically do cream shadows because they’re not too convenient and they often crease terribly. Not the Super Shock Shadows though! These babies are everything and more you need out of an eyeshadow–for just $5 a pop.
My Super Shock Shadow collection is growing rather quickly with LaLa being the newest shade to my stash. LaLa is a coppery rose gold with pink and golden shimmer that gives it a beautiful soft metallic finish. It’s pretty much the perfect all over lid shade for a variety of skin tones. You can easily smudge a little LaLa on your lids and top it with a little liner and mascara before work a natural everyday look that pops. Or you can pop a smoldering dark brown matte into your crease to create a sparkling smokey look that adds a touch of glamour and edge to your look. I’ve been wearing LaLa religiously since I got my hands on it and I just can’t get over how beautifully it pairs with all of my favorite shadows. Especially my new favorite Modern Renaissance Palette.
LaLa isn’t the most unique shadow on the block but the formula sets it apart from any close dupes I have in my stash. The Super Shock Shadow formula is creamy with a bouncy gel-like texture that’s buttery soft and applies silky smooth with intense pigmentation. LaLa is incredibly easy to apply using your fingers or a brush as it just glides on with ease and not too much fall out. The formula also isn’t super emollient so it doesn’t move around too much or feel heavy. In fact, the Super Shock Shadows sport more of a cream to powder formula so it’s super easy to apply and great for all skin types.
Of course, I prefer to prime my eyes for all of my eyeshadows but I love that I can skip the primer on my lazy days and just sweep on a little LaLa with good results. LaLa manages to last for over 8 hours before fading with very little creasing. The key is to not layer on too much or LaLa will start to crinkle and crease like crazy. With a primer, LaLa holds tight for over 10 hours with no creasing and very little fading. It’s hard to believe that the ColourPop Super Shock Shadows are only $5 because they seriously beat the pants off other formulas that cost 5 times as much. If you haven’t tried a ColourPop Super Shock Shadow yet then I recommend you give LaLa a try as it’s a great versatile shadow that pretty much anyone can pull off. Trust me, you need it!
