Bobbi Brown Pink Quartz Shimmer Brick Review
Bobbi Brown is famous for her extensive foundation line and amazing Correctors and Concealers. But a flawless complexion isn’t the only thing she excels at. For years, Bobbi has quietly been killing the highlight game with her iconic Shimmer Bricks that can also be used as a shimmering eyeshadow palette. Before Anastasia Beverly Hills and Becca hit the scene and brought strobing to life Bobbi Brown was chilling in the background making magic happen with her gorgeous Shimmer Bricks. It wasn’t until I became a makeup artist for Bobbi Brown that I discovered the beauty of Shimmer Bricks but it didn’t take me long to appreciate them at all. Bobbi’s Shimmer Bricks are highlight heaven!
After the first time I tried one, I thought to myself, “Why isn’t everybody singing the praises of Shimmer Brick whenever highlighter is mentioned?” Yes, Shimmer Bricks are that good. So good that I ended up grabbing a few of them to add to my collection. One of my favorite shades is Pink Quartz. It’s a blend of champagne, bronze, gold and pink shimmering strips that can be used individually as eyeshadows or swirled all together to create a stunning rose gold glow.
Pink Quartz is a great highlighter option for all skin tones and types because it allows you to customize your glow while playing nicely with your pores. Pink Quartz isn’t super pigmented so the base color of the shimmer strips doesn’t really come through. All you really see is the beautiful shimmer which ranges from very fine to slightly chunky depending on the shimmer strip. Pink Quartz is contains a bit more glitter than shimmer so you’ll want to use a light hand (or a fan brush) when swirling through the shimmer strips because it’s easy to go overboard and end up with a super glow on steroids. With a light application, Pink Quartz can easily give a soft, subtle ethereal glow that looks naturally radiant. However, if you build it a little more, Pink Quartz can bring your cheeks to life with a rose gold glow that’s to die for. I’m talking cheeks that shine so intensely everyone around you will need shades. I live for it!
Pink Quartz isn’t all glow though. There’s a great quality formula behind it too! Despite the high glitter content, I didn’t really find Pink Quartz to emphasize pores or the texture of my skin. My cheeks are more on the dry side and even when applied more intensely Pink Quartz didn’t look flakey or patchy. It always looks smooth. Almost like molten rose gold. Pink Quartz is also pretty easy to blend so it’s easy to buff in those sparkles even with a fan brush. Again, you’ll just have to be careful to start off slowly with a light hand because it’s still pretty easy to go overboard with the glitter. Especially if you’re not a highlight for the gods kinda gal. If you are, you’ll be happy to know that your intense glow isn’t going to be dimmed easily. Pink Quartz holds strong for over 8 hours before showing even the slightest signs of fading. It even holds up well during a hot, sweaty night out dancing with your girls until the wee hours of the morning.
Of course, Bobbi’s Pink Quartz Shimmer Brick won’t be everyone’s cup of tea because of all that luscious glitter. But if you’re cool with a little shim-shimma you’ll love Pink Quartz whether you’re on the lighter or deeper end of the spectrum. I can’t believe it took me so long to try Bobbi’s Shimmer Bricks but now I’m totally addicted. If you haven’t tried one of Bobbi’s Shimmer Bricks then you need to check out Pink Quartz asap!
