Too Faced Black Sketch Marker Liquid Art Eyeliner Review

Too Faced Black Sketch Marker Liquid Art Eyeliner

Mastering liquid eyeliner is truly an art form. One wrong move and you can ruin that gorgeous smokey eye you’ve worked tirelessly on blending until your arms hurt. Or you could completely trash that wicked wing you’ve been dying to perfect. Liquid liner is a beast and it can smell fear. That’s why I prefer felt tip eyeliner pens like the new Too Faced Sketch Marker Liquid Art Eyeliners. They’re exactly my thing: super intense, sleek packaging and a precise tip.

A few months ago, I discovered the beauty of the Stila Stay All Day Liquid Liner and fell in love with its intensity and effortless application. After using it daily, my beloved Stila Stay All Day Liquid Liner finally ran flat. I know this sounds a little dramatic but a piece of me seriously died when I went to line my eyes and realized the well finally ran dry. Thankfully, I went to a Too Faced training that week and received the new Sketch Marker Liquid Art Eyeliner in Black. I had a feeling the Too Faced Sketch Marker would be good because Too Faced is known for creating great products in the cutest packaging. But could it ever live up to the Stila Stay All Day Liquid Liner?

Almost! The Too Faced Sketch Marker is extremely similar to the Stila Stay All Day Liquid Liner with its incredibly intense black color and sleek marker design that features a long, thin felt applicator that’s firm yet still flexible enough to glide smoothly across the skin. The Sketch Marker is just as pigmented and intense as the Stila Stay All Day Liquid Liner and even dries down to a similar demi-glossy finish. The major difference between the two is the wear time and the ability to layer. I never had issues building my Stila liner for a thicker line but there are times that the Too Faced Sketch Marker can look patchy and require an extra layer or two to look even without streaks. The Sketch Marker doesn’t always go on streaky so it’s not super annoying but it can be when I’m pressed for time.

The Too Faced Sketch Marker doesn’t wear quite as well as the Stila Stay All Day Liquid Liner either. While it does hold up for over 10 hours without disappearing on my watery lids it does smudge a little by the end of the day. Which wasn’t an issue with my Stila liner. I still think the Too Faced Sketch Marker is a great option for liquid liner junkies but I have to be honest. I like the Stila Stay All Day Liquid Liner a little better. However, the Too Faced Sketch Marker isn’t too shabby and will definitely hold me over until it’s time for a new liquid liner.
