Let’s take a quick break from all these incredibly tempting new fall and holiday collections. Shall we? I don’t know about you but my head is spinning from all the newness in the beauty world right now. It’s so overwhelming! Lately, I’ve been finding myself spending and spending on more and more makeup that I don’t need. But I love shiny new things so I can never quite help myself.
I’ve been trying to keep myself a little grounded a little bit by exploring some old goodies in my collection and showing lots of love to the newer stuff that I’ve been buying and it’s been helping. Somewhat. Last month, I found myself reaching for a few of the same products every time I did my makeup. Which is nice because I got a chance to really appreciate some products that deserved lots of love and attention.
Like the MAC x Taraji Collection. I’ve talked about this collection a lot last month and that’s because I was always reaching for each piece in the collection. Highlight the Truth Mineralize Skinfinish quickly became my go to highlighter when I realized just how soft and pretty it was. Highlight the Truth gave me a nice peachy gold glow that can be subtle enough or an everyday lit from within kinda highlight. Or built up for more of the pronounced highlight that I love. Taraji Glow Mineralize Skinfinish is pretty much the most perfect blush in the world. It’s a warm terracotta brown that adds warmth and a nice orangey flush of color to my cheeks that goes with any kind of look or mood. Taraji Glow and Highlight the Truth pair especially well with Taraji’s Strip Me Down Lipstick which is a beautiful nude on my brown skin. I ended up reaching for Strip Me Down a lot last month because it’s so effortless and looks amazing whether I’m super beat or feeling more natural. I’ll definitely be keeping the MAC x Taraji Collection in heavy rotation throughout fall.
I also pulled out my Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette that I picked up last holiday season and finally started to put it to good use last month. I can’t believe I’ve waited so long to really put this baby to good use because it is bomb! The Ambient Lighting Palette features 3 Ambient Lighting Powders including Dim Light, Incandescent Light and Radiant Light. Dim Light is a soft, peachy beige with the tiniest hint of shimmer that works like a charm as a setting powder for my under eye concealer. Dim Light cuts down on creasing while brightening up my under eyes and giving me a soft demi-matte finish that still looks radiant. Incandescent Light is a pale pearly beige that has a quite a bit more shimmer than Dim Light but it’s not super shimmery. Incandescent Light is a stunning highlighter that’s very soft and subtle giving my cheeks a very natural looking pearlescent glow. I like to use Incandescent Light on my quick “no makeup” makeup days and even on my more beat face days as a base for strobing with another highlighter on top (like Highlight the Truth). Radiant Light is more of a warm bronzy gold with a hint of shimmer that works well as both a natural highlighter and all over setting powder. Radiant Light is my favorite shade in the Ambient Lighting Palette because it’s the most versatile powder for my skin tone. I love that I can layer it on my cheeks to give me a subtle golden glow or sweep it all over to set my foundation and leave my skin looking flawless with the prettiest diffused all over glow. The Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette is another gem that I’ll be holding on to throughout fall for sure!
Last but certainly not least is my beloved Too Faced Born This Way Foundation which I’ve retired for a couple of months in favor of my Urban Decay Naked Skin powder foundation. When it started to get a little too hot and sticky outside I ditched my Born This Way because it’s a little tricky and creamy but now that it’s finally starting to cool back down I figured it was time to put this baby back into rotation. Born This Way offers undetectable medium to full coverage that looks incredibly natural to the point where people have a hard time believing I’m even wearing a foundation. It’s been my go to foundation for months and I couldn’t help but add it back to my rotation. I still love my Urban Decay Naked Skin powder foundation but I’m really digging the nice luminous finish Born This Way gives. It’s such a nice foundation!
