I’m Kinda Digging Makeup Revolution..
When you’re constantly being bombarded with pretty images of new releases and bomb new collections from uber popular brands it can be hard to see the beauty in other brands. It literally took me years to wean myself off MAC and now my eyes are open to the endless world of wonderful makeup brands out there that don’t always get a ton of love. Like Makeup Revolution. Makeup Revolution is probably more popular in it’s hometown of London but over the pond it’s just starting to get a little shine thanks to the geniuses at Ulta who exclusively launched the line in stores here in the US. Good move, Ulta!
Now we aren’t forced to order Makeup Revolution goodies online and then wait for them to cross the 7 seas to revel in its affordable goodness. You can simply waltz in Ulta, grab a palette or lipstick off the shelf and then be on your merry way without spending all your coins. Doesn’t that sound like a dream come true?
Because it is. My Makeup Revolution collection is quickly growing and it’s simply because everything is so cheap but at the same time so good. It’s not like that cheap, old school makeup your parents used to buy for you to play in as a kid. Nope! Even the most sophisticated of adults can appreciate the beauty and quality of some of Makeup Revolution’s product.
I’ve tried a few of their of highlighters, blushes and glosses but I haven’t dabbled in the lipsticks until now. When Makeup Revolution was BOGO half off at Ulta (such an amazing deal!) I grabbed 3 of the Amazing Lipsticks out of curiosity. They’re only 3 bucks a pop and the sale knocked 2 of them to just $1.50 so I figured it would be a great time to try them out and see how I like them. I picked out 3 shades including:
- 100% Vamp deep blackened plum
- Enchant pale lilac pink
- Make Me Tonight deep blackened cherry
If you haven’t noticed already, I kinda stumbled picking out my third lipstick choice because the Amazing Lipstick range is rather small and dupable. So I ended up with 2 vampy lipsticks that look almost identical in the tubes. It was so funny shooting them because the names are on the caps and not the bottom of the tube so I had to carefully place the tops in order to distinguish them apart. Until I did a swift turn and knocked all 3 caps over. Talk about confused. LOL! I figured it out though. Thanks to Google, of course. 100% Vamp is more of a vampy purple while Make Me Tonight pulls a bit more brown and has more of red undertone. I wouldn’t suggest buying them both because they look so similar. Unless you’re stuck trying to get your BOGO on.
Make Me Tonight and 100% Vamp didn’t turn out to be bad choices though because I like them both (and Enchanted too). They’re not too shabby for $3. They’re more on the sheer side but you can layer them on for a more opaque, even finish. I think the Amazing Lipsticks would be a great option for lipstick lovers with dry lips who need a more creamy formula and dig a little sheerness for effortless wear. If you’re a full on intense lipstick junkie you may not like all the layering to make these babies pop.
The main reason I decided to pick up more Makeup Revolution goodies is because I’ve heard so many great things about the Vivid Baked Bronzers that I had to go ahead and grab one. After trying the Vivid Baked Highlighters and the Golden Sugar 2 Rose Gold Blush Palette I was convinced that Makeup Revolution knew their stuff when it comes to cheeks. The Vivid Baked Highlighters are heaven and the blush palettes are pretty amazing too so I had a feeling that people were telling the truth when they said the Vivid Baked Bronzer were lit too.
And they weren’t lying!
I grabbed the Rock On World Vivid Baked Bronzer which is a deep bronze gold with tons of golden shimmer and an earthy bronzed base that really shines through. Rock On World is crazy pigmented and can be used as a highlighter when sheered out with a fan brush or a full on bronzer when packed on with a more dense, fluffy bronzer brush. Either way, Rock On World looks absolutely amazing on brown skin and is a must have if you like to glow for the low. From the moment I swatched it, I was blown away by the quality and the intensity of its bronzy gold goodness. Rock On World is just too beautiful! I highly recommend all my dark skin divas grab it from Ulta asap!
