Marvel in the Works of Tarte Holiday Collection at Ulta!
Normally when October rolls in, I’m thinking of costumes I can slip into and pass as a teenager so I can go trick or treating one last time. I’m in my mid-20s but I could easily pass for a highschooler looking to get her trick or treat kicks off for the last time. Call me crazy but I’d do anything for free candy. Especially Reese cups.
This year, my mind is juggling how to finagle trick or treating one last time and trying to balance all these holiday collections that are coming so fast that my head is spinning like the exorcist. One of the first holiday collections to pop up at Ulta is Tarte’s limited edition Works of Tarte lineup. It includes both deluxe and full sized value sets that’ll have you knocking on your neighbors’ doors for money instead of candy for Halloween.
There’s 2 lip sets available at Ulta and I’ve already added one of them to my collection. The Limitless Lippies Deluxe Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paint Set was first on my list because I love liquid lipsticks and I loved the idea of being able to try 8 new shades of Tarte’s Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paints for the price of 2 full sized Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paints. When I first saw pictures of the set on social media I feared that the tubes were too tiny to justify the $42 price tag. I still think the tubes are tiny seeing as that they’re about the size of my pinky.
However, I like that the Limitless Lippies set has a nice variety of shades and gives you a chance to try the formula at an okay price. I say okay because the set combined only amounts to a little more than a full sized Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paint (0.034 oz x 8 = 0.27 oz vs 0.2 oz). The Limitless Lippies set isn’t a great value for the product but more so for the variety. Instead of buying 2 full sized Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paints for about $40 you can grab this set and try 8 for about the same price.
The Limitless Lippies Set is a nice giftable set that you can break apart into 2 separate sets to give to a friend or you could be greedy like me and keep them all to yourself. I won’t (and can’t) judge you either way. A girl’s gotta have options! The sets include:
- Soul deep berry
- Perf plummy rose
- Candy peachy nude
- Latte medium brown
- Mani dusty rose
- Spicy mauve berry
- Honey rosy brown
- Juicy cool red
My favorite shades are Soul, Latte, Perf and Spicy but the entire set is beautiful and works pretty well for most skin tones. There’s a few shades in the set that’ll require a lip liner for me like Honey and Candy for sure. However, all of the shades are pretty brown girl friendly and will look really nice on my dark skin divas. The Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paint formula isn’t too shabby either. It has a thick, whipped mousse texture that’s creamy and applies with an immediate matte finish that doesn’t require a dry down. As a result, the Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paints tend to transfer a bit and they can start to feel a bit drying throughout the day since they’re so matte. My biggest gripe with the formula is that the deeper shades (like Soul) tend to apply a bit patchy so you absolutely have to grab a lip liner to ensure an even finish. Overall, the Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paints are pretty decent liquid lipsticks that I enjoy.
Would I recommend you hurry and snatch up the Tarte Limitless Lippies Deluxe Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paint Set before it’s gone? It depends. If you’re beauty budget-nista looking for a great value in terms of price and product I’d say you can safely skip this set as Tarte honestly doesn’t offer enough product for the $42 price tag. On the other hand, if you’re more so into the variety of holiday sets, then I say go for it! It’s nice to have 8 shades of lipsticks to choose from. Especially if you know you probably won’t finish one anyway. Either way, I’m still enjoying these cute tiny tubes of lipsticks and think they’re worth checking out if you’re a Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paint newbie or junkie.
