Still NYX Haulin’!
When you find good makeup that’s already pretty cheap and on sale what do you do? Buy it all! Almost everything NYX offers is under 20 bucks so coming across a buy 2 get 1 free sale is dangerous. I got so excited at Ulta that my mind was telling, “Buy it all. Buy everything you want today, Fancie. Do it!” So I did pretty much that. Even after hauling a handful of goodies earlier, I still had a little haul left in me and a few more things to get. Damn you good sales!
NYX released a lot of new lipsticks this year including a new line of Plush Gel Lipsticks. The Plush Gel Lipstick lineup features 12 shades ranging from pink to nude to purple with a creamy lightweight gel formula that reminds me a lot of MAC’s Cremesheen formula. The Plush Gel Lipsticks are mostly sheer with a nice sheen that’s super creamy and lightly hydrating. I picked up just one during the sale, Breakup, a mauvey brown, that looks beautiful on brown skin and feels so good on the lips. I seriously don’t need anymore lipsticks but Breakup felt and looked so good that I was curious to try a few other shades. The B2G1 free promotion ended but NYX is still on sale for B1G1 half off so I’m tempted to try a few more.
I’ve already tried (and really liked) the Liquid Suede Cream Lipsticks NYX released last year so I decided to finally indulge in a few of their new shades including Club Hopper and Downtown Beauty. Club Hopper is a reddish brown that just screams fall as it gives off an edgy vibe yet it’s still very wearable and looks amazing on all skin tones. Downtown Beauty is more of peanut butter brown that’s nude lip heaven for my dark skin divas as it requires no lip liner or lip gloss to make it work. I really love the new shades NYX came up with and enjoy the Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick formula as well. The Liquid Suede Cream Lipsticks have a creamy lightweight formula that slightly dries down to a matte finish that’s comfortable to wear but not completely budge proof like a traditional lip color. I still like the formula a lot though because it’s easier on the lips and doesn’t require as much maintenance as other liquid lipstick formulas.
Speaking of drying liquid lipsticks, I also decided to grab a couple more Lip Lingerie Liquid Lipsticks. They’re super drying but sometimes I get so hooked on my nudes and the NYX Lip Lingerie Liquid Lipsticks have an excellent selection to choose from. I learned from the first few that I picked up that the Lip Lingerie lipsticks I picked up that they can wreak havoc on dry lips but that darn sale pulled me into to buying 2 more. I ended up grabbing Ruffle Trim, a soft pinky nude, and Push Up, a pale beige nude. Both require a lip liner to look their best on my brown skin and lots of lip balm, too. However, a good nude liquid lipstick is worth a little struggle. So why not?
After struggling to find another item to pick up to score 2 of my lipstick choices for free I remembered that NYX released the new #NoFilter Finishing Powders earlier this year that have received plenty of good reviews. A lot of people were comparing the #NoFilter Finishing Powder to MAC’s Mineralize Skinfinish powders which I absolutely love! Years ago, I used to use the Dark Deep as a powder foundation so I figured the NYX #NoFilter Finishing Powder may work well as a good setting powder for my dry skin considering they’re a bit more lightweight and more sheer. I picked up the shade Classic Tan to use as a setting powder for my concealer. I haven’t tried it just yet but I swatched it for you guys and I like the way the formula feels. The #NoFilter Finishing Powder is very lightweight with a nice silky texture that I think will work well for my dry under eyes. Fingers crossed!
