Is anyone else over 25 still obsessed with Hello Kitty? Don’t be ashamed, girl. You’re in good company! I still love me some Hello Kitty and I jump (and scream) at the chance to add even more of her to my collection in anyway possible. From undies to seat covers, my Hello Kitty addiction leads me to buy pretty much anything with her cute little face on it. And that includes the new ColourPop x Hello Kitty Collection celebrating the iconic cat’s birthday on November 1st.

I didn’t hesitate one second to pop a few things into my cart from this collection. Just look at the bow detailing on the packaging. How could I resist that?! I couldn’t. So I grabbed a few lippies and a highlighter because I wasn’t really interested in the eyeshadow quad or the set. Well, I kinda wanted the set but there were a few things I didn’t think I’d use like the red Ribbon Ultra Matte Lip or any of the shadows since I have dupes of them all. So I passed on it. For now. With a collection this cute there’s no guarantee that I won’t double back for seconds.

The ColourPop x Hello Kitty collaborations seems to be the largest one yet for ColourPop and it doesn’t disappoint. Besides the fully loaded set, there’s quite a few individual pieces including lipsticks, gloss, blush, highlighter and even a makeup bag. ColourPop went all out for Hello Kitty’s birthday and I have to applaud them for delivering in such an adorable way. I ordered a few lippies including:

  • Lock Diary Ultra Matte Lip bright fuchsia pink
  • Supercute Ultra Glossy Lip sheer baby pink with hot pink glitter
  • Tiny Chum Ultra Satin Lip soft pinky brown nude

I’m very familiar with ColourPop’s Ultra Matte Lip and Ultra Satin Lip formulas as they’re some of my favorites so I knew I’d love Tiny Chum and Lock Diary. Lock Diary is a fun, playful pink that’ll pair nicely with a soft nude eye for holiday gatherings. Tiny Chum, on the other hand, is a very flattering (and comfortable to wear) nude that’s not too boring so it balances out your smoky look for the night cap without fading into the background. The Ultra Glossy Lip formula is still pretty new to me but so far I’m loving how Supercute turned out. The formula is very creamy with a soft, plush feel on the lips that isn’t sticky, tacky or heavy. Supercute Ultra Glossy Lip feels weightless on the lips and lightly moisturizing. What I love the most about Supercute is all of the hot pink glitter, of course. Supercute is loaded with it and it creates this really cool juicy, floating glitter lip that’s gorgeous on its own or over another lipstick. Like Lock Diary if you find ColourPop’s Ultra Matte Lips to be a little drying.

I don’t reach for my ColourPop Lippie Stix as often as I do my Ultra Matte Lips and Ultra Satin Lips but I still like them. I think ColourPop’s Lippie Stix are pretty comfortable to wear and easy to apply. Which is why I went ahead and added Date Mate and Konnichiwa Lippie Stix to my cart too. Date Mate is another matte bright fuchsia pink that’s very vibrant and bold. Like one of Hello Kitty’s signature bows. Date Mate is a rather pretty pink that would look beautiful paired with a deep purple, pink or red lip liner to really help it pop on brown skin. Konnichiwa is a more subdued lippie. It’s a soft mauve pink that makes a great everyday lipstick for many skin tones from light to dark. Konnichiwa has a cream finish that’s very easy on the lips and easy to apply so it doesn’t take much effort to pull off at all. I really like it!

You guys know I love me some highlighter so I went ahead and ordered the School is Fun Super Shock Cheek since it looked pretty and is sold individually. I was excited to get my hands on it because the swatch on the site made School is Fun look brown girl friendly but once I received it in person I wasn’t sure what to think. School is Fun has a white pearl base with a strong gold duochrome finish. School is Fun isn’t over the top shimmery but it still features ColourPop’s signature holographic-like glitter so it has that floating effect that’s beautiful.

My biggest problem is the base though. The white base is a little too prominent in School is Fun so when swatched it looks like it can be either a really amazing highlighter for brown skin or an ashy disaster. You can still see some remnants of the white base along with the bold yellow gold glow and it makes me nervous. The gold glow is a little more prominent in person but I’m still worried that the white base may translate to the skin. I guess I’ll be finding out soon!
