Gingerbread Cookie Inspired Look for Holiday
Natural looks are my jam on an everyday basis. But special occasions and holidays are for going all out. You get dressed to the nines and put on your best shoes. You beat your face to capacity. You just go crazy with it for the holidays. And that’s okay. ‘Cause I do too. Lately I’ve been finding myself feeling a little smoky when it comes time to get ready to hit the scene. I recently created a look with one of my holiday buys, the Too Faced Gingerbread Cookie Palette from the Grand Hotel Cafe Set.
The Gingerbread Coookie Palette is my favorite in the set because the colors are simple and easy to create a complete look with. At first glance, Gingerbread Cookie looks a little boring but there’s a couple dazzling shimmers that keep it festive and fun. For this smoky look, I used Bobbi Brown’s Camel Matte Eyeshadow in my crease as a transition shade. Camel is a soft medium yellow brown that’s very close to my complexion so it makes deeper shadows easier to blend without altering the color too much.
Next, I blended Maple Syrup, a deep cool brown, into my outer V and inner corner blending to the center and a bit into the crease. I found Maple Syrup to be rather pigmented and blend very easily just as I’m used to with Too Faced shadows. To add a little sparkle, I used my fingers to pop on Gingersnap into the center of my lids and then softly blended it into Maple Syrup using a fluffy blending brush. To complete the look, I swept a little Camel and Maple Syrup onto my bottom lid and then applied my Ardell Studio Effects Wispies lashes for more drama and then added a bit of Giorgio Armani Eccentrico Mascara to my bottom lashes.
On my face, I mixed the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Oil with the Becca Backlight Priming Filter to lock moisture into my dry skin and add a killer soft gold glow. Next, I applied Too Faced Born This Way Foundation in Mahogany using my Ulta Beauty Collection Blending Sponge (which is amazing!) and then applied Tarte’s Shape Tape Concealer in Deep to highlight. I then contoured using my trusty Black Radiance Concealer Stick in Deep and then set it with my Tarte x MakeupShayla Tarteist Contour Palette. For a little color and flair, I grabbed my MAC Nutcracker Sweet Copper Face Compact and swept Pleasure Model onto my cheeks and Whisper of Gilt on the high points of my cheekbones and down the bridge of my nose. Finally, I lined my lips with NYX Club Hopper Matte Suede Lip Liner and applied Bite Beauty Glace Matte Creme Lip Crayon for a soft pinky nude lip.
What’s your go to look for the holidays?
