How Cute is the Too Faced Grand Hotel Cafe?

Too Faced Grand Hotel Cafe for Holiday 2016

Makeup is sorta like books. It can really take you places! Like the new limited edition Too Faced Grand Hotel Cafe palette set for holiday. From the moment you open the hotel shaped box, you’re whisked away to the Grand Hotel Cafe to spend your Christmas in Paris. Like a boss. A delicious smelling boss. With just a quick whiff of the yummy smelling palettes I could close my eyes and imagine sitting in cute quaint cafe nibbling on gingerbread cookies as I sip on a Peppermint Mocha Frappuccino in bliss. Just take me away Too Faced!

Too Faced Grand Hotel Cafe Peppermint Mocha Palette Swatches on Dark Skin

Too Faced Grand Hotel Cafe set takes you to Paris in style wit 3 palettes that include 6 festive themed eyeshadows and a coordinating blush. The first palette is Peppermint Mocha. An adorably cute pink themed palette that features a mix of neutral shadows ranging from bronze to pale pink and even throws in a shimmering hot pink shadow to get you ready for that special holiday party. Peppermint Mocha also comes with a rosy pink blush to round everything out and add little color to your cheeks. Did I mention that it actually smells like Peppermint Mocha too? Oh goodness! Too Faced gave Peppermint Mocha a sweet spin on their usual chocolate scent and added a hint of peppermint that makes you feel like you’re in a coffee house. I’m obsessed!

I really like the colors in Peppermint Mocha because it has a nice crease shade (Peppermint Mocha) and a beautiful sparkling gold (Christmas Blend) that looks amazing. I think Peppermint Mocha and Christmas Blend would look beautiful paired together with a little Sprinkles in the inner corner or swept along the bottom lid. I was little iffy about the Santa Baby blush because it looked a little light on my brown skin but it does seem to warm up a bit and get a little darker. Here’s to hoping I like the blush as much as I like the eyeshadow!

Too Faced Grand Hotel Cafe Eggnog Latte Palette Swatches on Dark Skin

Next up is Eggnog Latte. I didn’t think I would be a fan of the scent this time because I hate eggnog (weird I know) and I’m not a fan of the smell either. However, Too Faced actually makes Eggnog Latte rather likable with a warm, sweet vanilla-ish scent that’s very soothing. I kinda like it! Eggnog Latte is also more on the neutral side but you still get a few good kicks from the eyeshadows.

Eggnog Latte was one of the main reasons I wanted the Grand Cafe Hotel set because it features a gorgeous bronze-taupe Pressed Pigment (Cold Brew) and a gorgeous forest green (Central Perk) that’ll really make my brown eyes pop. I do wish Too Faced included a teeny tiny bit more mattes because I can’t create a full look using Eggnog Latte (since Skinny Latte is too light for me) but I kinda dig Central Perk as a crease shade. I’m not a huge fan of shimmer in my crease but Central Perk isn’t loaded with chunky glitter like Cold Brew. It has more of a satin finish that I think might look pretty nice in the crease. I also like the blush choice a bit better this time around. Peach Cobbler is a soft pinky peach that’s quite flattering on brown skin. I imagine it’ll look really natural on my cheeks which is perfect because Eggnog Latte will need a little balance with all those gorgeous shimmering colors.

Too Faced Grand Hotel Cafe Gingerbread Cookie Palette Swatches on Dark Skin

Last but certainly not least is my favorite of the bunch: Gingerbread Cookie. It smells exactly like a gingerbread cookie which is absolutely amazing. Makes me feel like I’m standing in the middle of bakery on Christmas eve. It’s soo yummy! The Gingerbread Cookie Palette also features 2 pressed pigments and seems to work best with brown skin. There’s a couple good browns (Maple Syrup and Cup of Joe), a beautiful dazzling glittery gold (Gingersnap) and gorgeous sparkling purple pop of color (Winter Dream). It’s a glitter girls dream!

The color range in Gingerbread Cookie makes it the most wearable of the bunch and the only palette I can use to create a complete look. I like that I can get a nice natural look or go bold and glittery with ease. I also like the Gingerbread Blush too. It’s a soft shimmering brown that’s muted yet still looks rather pretty on my brown skin. Gingerbread Blush adds a nice sheen that’s subtle and not overpowering so it doesn’t compete with the beauty of Winter Dream and Gingersnap. I can’t wait to put this beauty to good use!

  1. […] Natural looks are my jam on an everyday basis. But special occasions and holidays are for going all out. You get dressed to the nines and put on your best shoes. You beat your face to capacity. You just go crazy with it for the holidays. And that’s okay. ‘Cause I do too. Lately I’ve been finding myself feeling a little smoky when it comes time to get ready to hit the scene. I recently created a look with one of my holiday buys, the Too Faced Gingerbread Cookie Palette from the Grand Hotel Cafe Set. […]
