Smashbox Light It Up L.A. Lights Palette: Contour. Blush. Highlight.

Smashbox Light It Up L.A. Lights Palette: Contour. Blush. Highlight. Swatches on Dark Skin

Holiday season is all about impulse buys. Sometimes it just happens. I’ve been trying to keep up with all the new goodies rolling out lately but somehow Smashbox’s holiday lineup almost slipped right by me. Until I walked pass the Smashbox gondola and saw the beautiful Light It up L.A. Lights Palette: Contour. Blush. Highlight. It’s a huge palette that mashes 3 full sized L.A. Lights Blush and Highlight trios together for maximum cheek coverage all season long.

Over the summer, I realized how great Smashbox blushes and highlighters can be when I tried the L.A. Lights Blush and Highlight Palette in Culver City Coral. The highlight and blushes were soft, silky and nicely pigmented. I loved how well they blend and melt into the cheeks for a very natural flush of color. I didn’t necessarily need another one so soon but I liked the idea of having Culver City Coral in a palette with other blushes.

Along with Culver City Coral, Malibu Berry also makes an appearance which gives the L.A. Lights Palette a little more color and edge. The Malibu Berry trio features a plum (Rich Berry), a soft berry pink (True Pink Berry) and duochrome pink highlighter (Highlight Berry) to add dimension to cheeks. Malibu Berry is a great trio for brown skin as both blushes show up well and the highlighter is amazing. It looks very pink in the pan but it transforms into a beautiful rose gold glow that’ll look good on anyone’s cheeks.

The L.A. Lights Palette also comes with a contour/bronzing trio too which consists of a light beige bronzer (Rich Bronze), True Flush (fleshy pink) and a sparkling gold highlighter (Highlight Gold). The bronzer doesn’t do anything for me at all, of course. I would have liked to see Smashbox put a slightly deeper bronzer in this palette though. I think the True Flush blush is pretty on brown skin as a soft everyday blush. The Highlight Gold is also quite pretty as it’s very flattering and gives a natural glow that has just the right amount of sparkle to help cheeks dance in the light.

Even though I could live without Rich Bronze, I think the L.A. Lights Palette is an amazing holiday buy. The individual L.A. Lights Blush and Highlight Palettes are $35 a pop and this palette gives you 3 of them for $39. Not to mention it’s a very versatile, nice quality palette that has a little something for everyone. I think the Smashbox Light It Up L.A. Lights Palette is a must have this holiday season!
