5 MAC Coral Lipsticks for Spring

Happy MAC Monday, ladies! If you’ve been hanging around Fancieland since the beginning then you probably remember the days when I used to go stir crazy for MAC. I had to have every new lipstick in every new shade that would flatter me. Boy was that exhausting! I definitely don’t miss those crazy days of hunting down collections and lipsticks but part of me does miss the excitement that a new MAC lipstick would bring every time I popped the cap and smelled the sweet, warm vanilla scent. In an effort to hold on to that nostalgia I’ve put together a nice treat for you this MAC Monday. Starting with some coral lips for spring! ?

Call me crazy but whenever spring rolls around I immediately think of coral lips. I used to be a huge fan of coral lipsticks back in the day. Especially MAC corals. So it’s no surprise that I still have a healthy collection of them. At first, I was planning to get rid of some of these coral beauties but after pulling them out I’m starting to remember why I loved coral lips so much.

Coral lips are bright. Fun. Festive. Flirty. And oh so poppin’ on brown skin! I’ve gotten so comfortable with nudes and pinks that it feels a little weird to step out of my comfort zone with a bold coral. But spring calls for coral and I’m going to deliver for the gods, hunny! And you can too with these cute corals!

My 5 MAC Coral Lipstick picks include:

  • Flamingo (Lustre) baby pink with a slight orange undertone and a sheer, creamy finish
  • Sushi Kiss (Satin) orange coral cream with a creamy satin finish
  • Vegas Volt (Amplified Creme) coral orange with a hint of pink and an ultra creamy finish
  • Toying Around (Amplified Creme) fuchsia pink with orange undertone and an ultra creamy finish
  • Party Parrot (Matte) hot fuchsia pink with a slight coral under tone and matte finish

A few of these shades started out as limited edition but they were such a big hit that MAC made all of them permanent with the exception of Toying Around, I believe. So you can find them all (except Toying Around) at your local MAC counter for just 17 bucks. Which isn’t too shabby considering the quality. All of these corals are pretty long lasting hanging around for about 4-6 hours before fading. Minus Flamingo, of course, which lasts around 3-4 hours thanks to it’s lightweight sheer creamy finish.

When it comes down to choosing a favorite, I’d have to go with Party Parrot in terms of color because it’s incredibly bold and looks beautiful on brown skin. The only downside is the matte formula catches every imperfection from fine lines to flakes so Party Parrot only looks amazing for a couple of hours. Formula wise, I have to go with Vegas Volt and Toying Around because I love the Amplified Creme formula. It’s very rich and creamy, pigmented and easy on the lips. Vegas Volt and Toying Around are quite comfortable to wear and they look great from start to finish.

Eyeing one of these beauties? Then you’re in luck, girl! All of these corals are brown girl friendly with Flamingo and Sushi Kiss being better suited for lighter to medium complexions and Toying Around, Vegas Volt and Party Parrot working best for deeper complexions. Don’t use these as hard rules though! I have a deep chocolate complexion and I still like to rock Flamingo and Sushi Kiss. With brighter corals like these, the key is to pair them with a deeper lip liner to tone them down and give your lips definition. If you want a more natural coral lip, you can use a deep brown lip liner (all over or just to line) to tone corals down and give them a soft, natural touch. If you want to keep it bold, you can try pairing your corals with a vampy red or purple liner or even a bright, bold pink for a more fun, playful look. The choice is truly yours! Anyone can rock coral with the right undertone and lip pencil!
