Tarte Make Believe in Yourself Eye & Cheek Palette Review
Girls love glitter! Don’t ask me why. We just do. We know it’s annoying. We know it’s craft herpes and never goes away once you get it. But we still love it! I’m pretty sure if you were to cut me right now (please don’t!) I’d bleed out an insane amount of glitter. Especially after playing with the new limited edition Tarte Make Believe in Yourself Eye & Cheek Palette! If I had one of those unicorn heads on a stick, I’d be prancing and galloping around in excitement because the Tarte Make Believe in Yourself Eye & Cheek Palette is truly magical.
It’s a whimsical, unicorn themed eye and face palette that features 4 metallic foiled eyeshadows, 5 shimmering eyeshadows and a sparkly highlighter to leave your eyes and cheeks glowing like a mythical fairy. The Tarte Make Believe in Yourself Palette includes:
- Myth neutral peachy beige matte
- Magic deep metallic bronze
- Wings metallic copper bronzer
- Marvel metallic sage green
- Trance metallic taupe
- Fairy shimmering violet
- Mystic shimmering sky blue
- Dream shimmering teal
- Crystal shimmering taupe with gold duo-chrome
- Pixie shimmering peachy pink with gold duo-chrome
- Believe champagne gold highlighter
From the packaging to the color scheme, Tarte nailed the unicorn vibe they were going for! The Make Believe in Yourself Eye & Cheek Palette is fun, bold and perfect for spring and summer. I love that it has a nice balance of neutrals (hello matte nude!) and pops of color that allows anyone who picks up this palette feel like a magical unicorn in her own right.
So how’s the quality? Pretty darn good! It appears that Tarte is sticking to their delicious new chocolate-scented eyeshadow formula so the Make Believe in Yourself Eye & Cheek Palette is nicely pigmented and easy to blend without much fallout. The quality of the shadows feels similar to Tartelette in Bloom and the Tarteist Pro Palette but they’re a little softer in the Make Believe Palette so they don’t feel quite as dense, dry or powdery. Which is great because there’s very little kick up when I swirl my brush in the pans or too much fall out as I’m applying those luscious foiled metallics.
Speaking of those foiled shadows…….they’re bomb! Tarte really did the damn thing when they decided to toss 4 of them into the Make Believe Eye & Cheek Palette because these babies sparkle and shine like no other. No setting spray, mixing medium or loose glitter needed! Magic, Wings, Marvel and Trance all dazzle on their own in a major way. When I rocked Marvel all over my lids, I received a ton of compliments on how beautiful it looked on me. I’m telling you, this palette is magic!
Not just because of the metallic foiled shadows either. The “basic” shimmers certainly pull their own weight too! They’re all complex shades that with a slight (or severe!) duo-chrome effect that looks amazing in the light. My favorites are Crystal and Pixie because they look amazing on brown skin and make great everyday lid colors for a sparkling glam look.
I thought I would be more excited about Believe, the cheek highlighter, but I feel like it’s just okay. You know I’m all for glitter but I’m a little leery when it comes to chunky glitter on my face–and Believe is chunky. It’s kind of crumbly too sometimes so it doesn’t always apply as neatly as I want because the product doesn’t disperse evenly all the time. I wish Tarte would have held back on the glitter a little when it came to Believe because it had the potential to be a nice highlighter. It’s just a little too chunky for my taste.
Minus the overly chunky highlighter, I think the Tarte Make Believe in Yourself Palette is a hit! The unicorn trend is huge right now and Tarte certainly nailed it with this palette. It has everything you need to feel fun, whimsical and magical including a convenient matte nude to add balance and definition to all that glitter and shimmer. The highlighter may or may not be your cup of tea but you can still use it as a killer sparkly eyeshadow to brighten up those eyes and make them pop this summer! If you haven’t already, I recommend heading to your local Sephora, Ulta or Macy’s to swatch this beauty in person and see for yourself. Hit the jump to see the look I created using Marvel! ?
